-Evan's POV-

"What?!"

"Yes the doctors say he's going to wake up tonight, come quick, get ahold of the Murphys as soon as possible!"

And she hung up. I stood in shock for a few seconds before I could feel my finger tips again. I shuffled back into the kitchen and piped up, tapping on her shoulder. "U-um Mrs. Murphy..? I-I'm sorry but-"

She swatted my hand away and I flinched, snatching my hand away. She turned to me and stared me down, as if she were staring into my soul.

She pointed her finger at my face and glared at me. "You can take that fake apology and shove it right up your!!-"

"MOM!!!" That caught me off guard a little bit. I glanced her up in down with a look of surprised shock on my face. I tried to get Zoe's attention but it failed.

I went into the living room where Larry was but he just ignored me and opened that mornings news paper. I tried to get Mrs. Murphy's attention again but she just told me off.

"It's about Connor!"

"I don't want to hear anymore of your lies or bullshit you made up about my son!" And then she just turned around and went back to her screaming match with Zoe.

-No one's POV-

Evan let out a frustrated scream through his teeth and decided fuck it, he'd go there himself. He grabbed his backpack and ran out of the house when the realization hit, hit like a truck. He didn't have a ride to the hospital.

Evan screamed again and kicked a pebble. He watched it skip across the pavement and down a few steps with the clicking sound of stone hitting stone.

Evan was only 16, legally allowed to drive, but he doesn't know how. Never took drivers ed, unless you count that hour in the empty mall parking lot with Heidi, and another 30 minutes with Mr. Heere.

Evan's anxiety always got the best of him and he'd be so scared to mess up or do something wrong his feet would slam down as hard as they could on the breaks before he even turned the key.

He got his phone from his pocket and scrolled through his contacts to see if anyone he knew could take him. He almost clicked Jeremy when he remembered he's with Michael in London for college.

He didn't know if his mother was too busy, Alana most likely didn't drive, Jared-

Jared. Was he available? It was worth a shot. His finger pressed against the blue button to call him and held the phone to his ear.

Evan's blood ran cold when he heard the other line. "Hello?" Evan went silent for a few seconds before Jared said "Evan? Hellooo?" Again. "S-sorry...um...I need a ride, Jere."

Jared's face went red at the nickname. "Where, exactly??" Even through it was only a phone call, Jared could practically hear Jared's confused face.

"T-to the hospital."

"What?! Are you okay?! Are you hurt? Or bleeding??"

"No it's for Connor."

"Oh so you'll use me for this too?"

"......"

"Besides why can't your fake family drive you?"

"Jared it's a yes or no...please just...give me an answer."

Jared really missed him, even though it had only been what, two days? "Okay, where are you?"
"Outside the Murphys house." "I'm on my way."
