The police walked in right as they picked up mother's body. Her forever frozen body.
The police barged towards me than tried to take me away.
I started screaming. If anybody was going to take me away, that person would be Gerard. Gerard would be the only one who could touch me.
I only wanted Gerard to touch me. The hands of the police were brutal, too strong, and cruel. Gerard's hands were filled with love for me and care.
But the police payed no attention to me.
They grabbed me by the waist and tried to pull me away from my home. From my Gerard. From my mom.
"Let go of me!" I screamed.
Gerard looked almost panicked as they were pulling me away.
The policeman let go of my waist and instead grabbed a hold of my inner elbow.
My heart rate sped up and my breathing hitched. That spot. The force, the brutality. All too familiar.
"NO!" I screamed as loud as I could.
It began to feel like a thousand weights being pushed against my chest as my heart rate continued to rise to dangerous speeds.
I started to violently shake uncontrollably. I had no control and it scared me.
I suddenly felt sensitivity wash over me and it shocked me. I couldn't do anything. No control.
It felt like a thousand hands pushing you further into that fear you have. That deadly fear. The fear of the unknown is sometimes more frightening than fear of the known.
Afraid of not knowing.
I pushed through the border of my panic attack and screamed for the only one I wanted with me right now.
"Gerard!" the voice that screamed it didn't sound like my own. It sounded like an alien. A different being.
But it was my voice that had made the sound.
The policeman finally released me. He had dragged me to the front lawn.
Gerard was soon beside me and grasping me in a hug.
"Scarlett, breathe, I'll never let them hurt you, I promise." he whispered into my ear.
"Just hold me Gerard. That's all I'll ever need." I replied.
My heart was slowly returning to the normality of beating. I could breathe for once.
Gerard pulled away a little and pecked me on the tip of my nose.
He pulled away a little more, but we were still embracing each other.
He turned to the policeman who appeared shocked.
"She's had a lot of trauma these past months. She's been through more than a lot of people go through in their entire life. And now there's this." Gerard said in a calm manner towards the policeman.
The policeman just gave me a look that just screamed: "This girl needs help"
