Chapter 16

Jungkook's POV-

The next day, I was about to go to college as usual. I didn't tell Y/N about the boxes or the letters. I came downstairs and went to check the mailbox again. As I opened it I saw that it was empty. 'Where did all the letters go?' I thought confused. 'Did Y/N take them out? Could be. It cannot go unnoticed for long.'

I closed the locker and went to the parking lot and got inside my car. I opened the inside drawer of my car and took out the letter that I had. l removed the wax seal on the back of it and took the letter out before reading it.

It was a boring letter from a grandmother to her granddaughter, Sarah. But what caught my eye was the last line. Which said-

"I hope you are happy with Kwangjae. Much love, grandma." I read it out.

'Happy with Kwangjae? What does that mean? Was he Sarah's...?' My trail of thoughts were cut off by my phone ringing. I saw it was Y/N. I picked it up and put it to my ear.

"Hey, Kookie." She said.

"Yeah, baby?" I said.

"I know that we have been busy these days and I do remember that I told you we'd go on a date today, but I don't think I can come home early. Vacation is coming up and I want to finish all the heap of assignments before that. So, I hope you understand." She said.

"It's alright baby, I understand. I have some work to do as well. Let's go on a date some other time." I said.

"Mhm. Take care and don't overwork yourself." She said.

"Yeah, you too. Love you." I said.

"Love you too." She said and I hung up.

I put the letter back in the drawer and drove to the University. I attended the classes as usual and in the break, I wrote down everything that I found from the beginning. 'First I found the letters, then the old woman called her, then I found the ID and the boxes at the dorm. Why doesn't anyone know where Sarah is? Who is she to Y/N?' I wrote it down as I thought in a notebook.

"But why are you searching for her?" I heard a voice behind my ear.

I jumped up and closed my notebook immediately. I snapped my head back and saw Seohee standing behind me.

"Ah, you startled me," I said.

"Hehe, sorry. But what were you writing?" She asked.

"I-It's nothing," I said awkwardly.

"Eh? Hmm, anyway I came to ask you if you'd like to have lunch with me. Aren't you hungry?" She asked.

"Ah, not actually," I said smiling wryly.

My stomach decided to do the biggest growl just as those words left my mouth. I looked at her shocked.

"Hahaha, come on now, let's eat." She said and pulled my hand.

"Uh, okay," I said and followed.

The tiring day ended and I drove home. I took the boxes from my car to our room. Since Y/N said she would be home late I decided to open them inside. I put them by the coffee table and opened one of them. I looked through and it mostly had old pictures of people I didn't know and Y/N, old letters and books.

It was frustrating to look through each one of the letters and the ones I opened were junk. I opened the second box and it also had the same stuff. But there was one thing that caught my eye, which was a document of some sort. I flipped through it and realised that it was an adoption petition.
