"The shallow waters were where they met "
Sophie POV
" You can't get me!" I yelled at Keefe who tried catching up with me.
" Oh yeah?" From far, I could see him smirk.
At that, I put all my energy into the sprint and I reached a river. A river I knew very well. The river that seperated the two lands. Anyone who trespasses and reached the other side, would be severely punished. No one dared to breach that law. It was made by the Council due to disagreements with the two sides.
Ridiculous Council, I thought, always finding ridiculous methods to solve problems.
Just then, I heard the sounds of pebbles and it was coming from the other side. A boy with brown hair and teal eyes came and he was kicking pebbles on the ground. He looked up before I could get out of sight. His teal eyes met mine, there was some electric shock struck between us and it wasn't the ' I'm going to kill you ' look, thankfully. However, I could not put my finger on it.
" Um...hi?" he greeted.
" You know we can't talk right?" I responded.
He just shrugged, " You're talking to me now. There's no difference. Besides, I also need someone to talk to."
" Problems?" I asked.
" Not really. Just... I wished to talk to someone different. I literally talked with almost everyone on my side and they literally have the same eye for everything. I always wanted to understand from somebody else's point of view of things and I wanted to find out what is on the other side, well... your side in any case" he said.
" I don't really want to know any of that stuff but yeah blame the council for seperating us. What's your name?" I asked.
" Fitz. Fitz Vacker. You?" he replied.
" Sophie. Sophie Foster slash Ruwen," I said in response.
His eyes widened, " The moonlark?"
I nodded. I was used to it. The Black Swan created me, hoping to be somone who was useful to them and I'm still not sure what purpose I serve.
" Well, that's interesting," Fitz commented.
I snorted, " It sure is."
We talked about stuff going on in each other's side when someone called out my name.
" Who was that?" Fitz asked, raising his eyebrow.
" Keefe," I replied and right on cue Keefe appeared behind me.
" Who's this?" Keefe asked.
" Fitz," I responded.
Keefe eyed Fitz, not saying a word.
" We have to go, Foster. Edaline and Grady would kill me if I don't bring you back by sunset. You're not even suppose to talk to him anyways," Keefe finally said, after a minute, as he grabbed my wrist but continued to look at Fitz in the eye.
Fitz looked away, avoiding eye contact. As Keefe pulled me away, I looked at Fitz and waved goodbye with my free hand and smiled at him. He smiled back and waved back before he disappeared into the trees on his side...
