" Things can't necessarily go to plan"

Sophie POV

After explaining the whole thing, with a few details provided by Mr Forkle, I finally asked what I needed, " Dad, the reason that I tell you this is because the only way to solve this crisis is that we work with the other kingdom. We need your acknowledgement to work together with King Alden."

Grady sighed and stood up and looked at the window which faced the other kingdom and said, " Alden and I used to friends. Best friends, actually. We were both loyal to each other. Our parents got along very well until..."

Edaline put a hand on Grady's shoulder as Grady continued, " Our fathers were sick of each other and the two lands took sides. The argument continued and no one believed it would ever stop. I was prohibited to see Alden again. Every day my father would go meet Alden's father and they would go on and on with their arguments. The Council then stepped in and made it a law to separate the two lands. From then on, I never ever saw Alden again."

" But," Grady said and turned around with a sad smile on his face, " if working together means I can get Alden back, I would have no desire to reject the deal."

From my sad face, it turned into a happy smile and I hugged my father, " Thank you, Dad."

" Anything for the greater good, kiddo," Grady replied and added, "I love you."

" And I never wanted to hurt any of your friends from the other side," Grady explained, pulling away, " it was just... I had to carry out a tradition... to hate the other side."

I smiled at him, " I understand that, Dad."

Mr Forkle cleared his throat, " Sorry to interrupt but I think Miss Foster should get ready to see the highness children."

Grady nodded, " Say hello to Alden's children for me and help me apologise for the last time I spoke to them."

" I'm sure they will forgive you, Dad," I replied and went to hug Edaline.

" We will support you no matter what happens, my sweet moonlark," Edaline whispered.

" Thank you, Mum," I responded before pulling out of the hug and standing to Mr Forkle's side.

" You kids should get going, you have about an hour or so left to prepare," Mr Forke informed us and I bid my parents good bye one last time before heading off with Dex and Marella.

" About time," Stina grumbled as we approached.

I ignored and asked Wylie," Did Jeff say anything yet?"

Wylie nodded, " About five minutes ago he told me they were going to sneak out the royals soon."

" Good to hear. Now, you guys should hide for a bit. They will be a bit startled to see all of you at once. I will talk to them before you guys come out," I explained and they nodded as they swiftly find a hiding spot to hide.

As soon as midnight stroke, a few cloaked figures appeared. Jeff lifted his hood and so did Biana and Fitz.

" I'm afraid we might not have much time to talk, moonlark," Jeff informed.

" And why is that?" I asked.

" Well, as we walked through the forest, some of the members felt liked we were followed. Thus, the rest of them didn't lift their hoods," Jeff explained.

" Well, indeed you were followed," a voice said and figures with hoods came out of hiding while my friends came out of hiding and backed away from them.

I looked at their hoods. They looked similar to the Black Swan's cloaks just that they bore the symbol of and eye...
