" Something that they never wanted to happen was happening"
Sophie POV
" We have arranged a marriage for you," Edaline said.
Fitz POV
" The solution is that we arrange a marrige for you which we already have done," Alden stated.
Sophie POV
I didn't know why but my whole world seem to be crashing down on me.
" What? With who?" I asked.
" I actually didn't like the boy we have chosen but he has shown that he is capable of protecting you, making him a great king," Grady said with a sigh.
I covered my mouth. Only one person could be the boy Grady was talking about. Keefe.
" But... but... I don't like Keefe. I mean... like a brother perhaps but never to marry him!" I protested.
I suddenly forgot all about Keefe sitting beside me. Keefe tapped my shoulder and I blushed in embarrassment.
" Sorry, Sophie but the marriage has already been planned and you will be married to Keefe in 3 weeks," Edaline said.
I didn't say anything and ran up to my room.
Fitz POV
" What?! An arranged marriage?" I asked, like an idiot.
Biana rolled her eyes while my parents nodded.
" To who?" I asked.
" Linh Song," Della said.
Linh Song, twin of Tam Song. Sure, I liked Linh but as a sister never like... well... a girlfriend or crush like.
Alden raised his hand, silencing me before I could protest.
" I get you do not like this but you need to marry, to ascend the throne as king," Alden said.
I was so angry I did not say a word.
" We will leave you now..." Della said as she escorted the rest of the family out of my room.
" Thanks a bunch, mum," I muttered under my breath.
Sophie POV
It was the middle of the night when I snuck out.
I couldn't care less if I got lost. Seriously, am I not able to just marry the person I love at all. Sure, I have not found anyone yet but I just can't marry someone I thought nothing more than a sibling.
I felt tears welling up in my eyes. I ran straight ahead. I didn't care where I went just far enough for comfort.
I could never marry Keefe.
" Sophie? Are you okay?" A heard someone asked.
Then, I realised I made it to the river.
Fitz POV
I didn't expect to see Sophie here. I didn't come here to see Sophie but when she arrived, I felt better some how.
" Sophie, is... is everything alright?" I asked.
Sophie wept as she shook her head.
" Need me over there?" I asked, not sure what I was thinking.
Sophie looked at me and shook her head once again, " You know you can't come here. It's against the law."
I looked at her, sadly, " I will if I need to."
Looking for a way to the other side, I spotted pebbles that looked like stepping stones.
I hopped on and I reached the other side. I looked around. No. Nothing. Just silence.
" Fitz! You know you can't d-" Sophie didn't get to finish her sentence as I cut her off.
" This is an emergency," I insisted, " Now, tell me what's going on."
" You are hopeless," she muttered.
I smirked as I chuckled, " I sure am."
Giving in, Sophie told me everything.
It was then, I realised how similar we were. That I had the same problems.
Once she finished, I told her mine. Her eyes widened.
" I guess I know how you feel," Sophie said.
" You sure do," I said, smiling.
Instead of biding each other good bye, we stayed there in silence but in comfort, hoping that things would change for both of us.
Author's Note: Hey guys! I tried to make it as long as I could. Hope you liked it! I will see you in my next update! ;)
