𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐋𝐘𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐃𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 attend the Mayors memorial, as it would be rude not to considering he was mayor before she left town. Walking up the large front steps, the girl straightened out her black dress and walked over to the Lockwood boy she had met a few nights ago.
"How are you?" The girl asked with genuine concern in her voice, she knew what it was like to be bombarded with 'i'm sorry for your loss' so she decided against it.
"I think you're the only person who has asked me how I am," he smiled, bringing her in for a hug, "I'm coping especially after the-" His train of thought was interrupted by a truck making its way into the driveway.
"Tyler, who's car is that? It looks familiar," the girl asked, wondering where she had seen the car before.
"That would be my Uncle Mason,"
Brooklyn froze, hoping it wasn't the Mason Lockwood that she had been all too familiar with up until just a few months ago. Her leg started to bounce up and down as she saw the familiar face in the front seat of the now parked car. Her trembling hand instinctively travelled to her neck making sure her necklace was still in place.
"The black sheep returns," Tyler said, greeting his uncle with a dull tone.
"Tyler?"
"Yeah," the boy said, trying to suppress his smile before being pulled into a hug.
"What happened to you?" at this Tyler's face filled with confusion, not knowing what his uncle was talking about. Brooklyn stood, staring at the man she once knew noticing how little he had changed since they first met.
"In my mind, you're still 12 years old," he said, grinning ear to ear, Tyler replied with a snarky comment regarding the last time the two saw each other."Oh, this is my friend Brooklyn," Tyler said, wrapping his arm around your shoulder, a mischievous grin on his face. The girl paled as Mason realised who was stood just inches away from him.
"We met in Florida, didn't we?" the girl said, trying to hide the anger she felt towards the man stood in front of her.
"We weren't close though," the girl shrugged, earning a frown from the brown-haired boy. The obvious tension between the two made Tyler realise something was up so he just invited the two inside. Upon entering the manor, the girl immediately went to find a drink, she was going to need one to get through the day. Grabbing a glass of champagne, the girl turned around only to be greeted by Mason taking the drink out of her hand.
