Manuel POV
"What happened to Miguel? He looks strange after he came back from London. Do you think something happens to him?"
"Yeah, I noticed that too. He is not really in the mood, judging from his condition for the last few days." Tristan answered me.
"But we can't get anything out from him since he refused to talk about it," I said kind of worried about him. He never behaved like that.
"Just give him some time. Sure he will get better after this." He persuaded me.
"I can't trace him. Maybe he went to another place tonight." I placed my phone back in my pocket after the line reached voicemail.
"Probably, hope this is the last. If not, we got to pull him out." That was what friends for.
Scarlet POV
I arrived in the city in the afternoon. I met Carlos in the lobby, and he handed me the access card to the hotel room. I was surprised when he called me the last few days with his surprise plan for Cassandra. I gladly received the offer without thinking twice. Coincidentally, there is some personal thing that I need to settle in New York. Kill two birds at one time, not a bad idea for me.
Not long after the talk with Carlos, I found myself in a gigantic room with a king-size bed in the middle of the room and everything was complete in the room. He impressed me with his hospitality. He is not bad like Cassandra claimed. Maybe they have some misunderstanding or that was part of his way to get closer to her. I smiled at my own assumption, guys can be weird sometimes.
According to Carlos, this was one of the hotels that run by him and his three other friends. They are best friends and business partners at the same time. It sounds interesting and it will be nice if I can meet them tomorrow at Cassandra's party. I can't wait to see her reaction too. I purposely didn't answer her call for the past few days. She thought I forgot about her birthday and doesn't care about her anymore. I was busy with the chaos created by my mom.
Miguel POV
I wasn't in my mood these few days. I don't know how to describe it but somehow it felt like something is missing. I wanted to get the thing that didn't belong to me. I was late and to let it go was hurtful. The best way to deal with it was drowning in the liquid that made me sleep peacefully. It was better that way as it will be out from my mind for a while. I barely let my soul free from the heavy stone that kept pressing on my chest.
I squinted as the light through the window hit my eyes. I rubbed my eyes, letting it fluttered open. I felt a pair of hands on my chest. I turned to look beside me and a girl was lying there in her cute pajama. I couldn't remember that I bring anyone with me to the hotel room last night. I couldn't see her face clearly as her brown hair was covering her face. I carefully tugged her hair behind her ears in an attempt to have a better view of her face.
"No way, this must be a dream."
"Caramel?" I blurted out looking at her figure that clutching onto me. Her hands wrapped me as if I was a teddy bear that lay beside her. I don't have any intention to remove her arms anyway even though the fact about her having a boyfriend hurt me for the last few days. I stared at her face while I let yesterday's memory played back in my mind. I was out of the idea of how she got into the bed with me.
"Or maybe I should ask her?" I whispered to myself.
She slightly stretched her body on the bed and clutched more onto me with her arms now holding tight onto my neck. I chuckled silently as I enjoyed the position much.
"Good morning, Caramel," I whispered to her ears but to no avail.
"Caramel, wake up," I tried again and this time a bit louder. I need to figure out what happened last night.
"Shut up, Cassandra. Grandpa is not out yet. We still have time to sleep. It's still early to open the café." She mumbled between her breaths while her face was buried at the crook of my neck. I could feel the heat of her breath on my neck, too warm that it made me closed my eyes unintentionally.
"I'm not Cassandra and your grandpa is not here." I chuckled while answering her.
"Shhh, quiet, quiet. I need more sleep. I'm having jet lag." She softly patted my face with her palm and covered my mouth to stop me from talking.
Jet lag? So she just arrived?
Too many questions in my head at this moment but I decided to put it aside first. Since she said she got jet lag, I want to let her to sleep more. Plus, being wrapped tightly in her embrace feel so nice. If she chose to stay like this then let it be. Who am I to reject anyway?
Scarlet POV
I wriggled to let myself free from the tight wrap on my body. I tried to stretch my body to release the arches but I found it difficult to move as if something tied my body. I opened my eyes to figure it out.
"Oh my goodness!" I screamed once my eyes landed on the figure next to me. There was a guy with striking light yellowish hair laid beside me and to make it worse he wrapped my body with his arms on my waist, the other arms around my neck while his legs locked my legs.
Who is he, a snake?
"Hey, let me go! Release me!" I scouted in a high pitch that will ruin his eardrum, I wish.
"What is it, Caramel?" He was finally awake. The brightness of the light caused him to look at me with squinted eyes. I pushed him away as soon as I felt the grip loosen on my body. Due to the sudden movement, I fall on the floor and my butt hit the floor.
"Ouch, damn it," I cursed while he sat on the bed and hollered laughter.
"Who are you and what are you doing in my room?" I threw him the question in one breath, still sitting on the floor.
"How about you get up first?" He scooted closer, extending his hand to help me. I slapped it, rejecting his help.
"I don't need your help," I grunted.
"Okay, as you wish." He raised his hands in defeat and stepped backward giving me some space. I slowly stood up from the ground and rubbed my back to ease the pain.
"What are you doing here? How did you enter this room?"
"Easy, Caramel. Let me answer everything inside your head. I'm here to sleep as you can see, on the bed just now. Second, I entered the room with the key card and I believed you did the same too." He smirked while taking a sit on the couch near the bed.
"This is my room and how you got the key card?" I was confused.
"I have the key card with me all the time. I used this room whenever I want to."
"Why you have it? I mean, how?" He seems to enjoy the situation.
"I'm one of the owners of this hotel." His words slapped my face. Well, mentally I mean.
"What?!" I shouted in shock. Carlos's words started to run in my mind again. He did mention he has three partners and Cassandra always mentioned them as well which she claimed as her brothers.
"Wait, you know Carlos? You are one of his partners?"
"Yup, clever girl, finally you figure it out." He said while plopped his chin on one of his arms studying me like I'm an object in the museum.
"Did you really don't remember me, Caramel?" His question made me knitted my brows.
"Have we met before?" I threw him back a question instead of giving him the answer. He shook his head with a snickered smile on his lips.
"Sorry about last night, I was drunk. The light is off and I didn't realize that you were in the room." He stepped away from the couch and strode closer towards me.
"I will wait for the day you remember about me, Caramel." He said near my earlobe. Am I having memory loss? I really can't remember this guy and why did he keep calling me caramel. It sounds familiar somehow.
"Got to go." He walked to the door.
"You know what, Caramel, I don't really felt sorry about last night." That was his final sentence before leaving me bewildered in the room.
What a weirdo.
