15. Chapter

The sky was filled with fluffy clouds, looking like a big soft carpet of wool, inviting to touch it and experience how soft it feels. The branches of the trees slowly moved from side to side in the cold wind. No cars were outside, only two couples on the other side of the street were walking around. They held hands, giving each other kisses and smiled. They looked as happy as ever, being with their soulmate. Or at least with their soulmate for the moment. Larry was in his wheelchair, Laurent behind him. The older twin looked at the stores on their left side, at the things that were being sold. Larry on the other hand watched the couples. His heart flattered with the kisses they gave each other, with the sweet looks and how the men treated their girlfriends. Almost automatically his hand reached back to take his twins.
"Lau look.", he whispered, his glowing eyes still on the young couple.
"They look so happy. You have to be this happy too Lau. I would love to see you smile like that.", he whispered amazed, smiling to himself. But oh how he touched Laurent with those words. Such angelic words coming out of his mouth, making the older twin almost cry.
"Bunny. Do you realize what you're saying?", he whispered, kissing his brothers cheek with a loving smile, almost as if he talked to a young child.
"I am this happy. I am even happier than that. Their love is for the moment. It will fade probably some day in the future. But look at what I got. I have a love that lasts forever and is so much stronger than anything they could possibly feel. I have the greatest gift of my life right in front of me and that makes me so incredibly happy Larbear.", the older brother explained, caressing Larry's fingers meanwhile and looking at them, until he finished with laying his brothers hand on his own cheek, looking directly into those chocolate brown eyes.
The other twin was completely lost for words then. Did his brother just say that he was better than a girlfriend slash boyfriend? Tears were pouring from his eyes as he hugged his twin closely, feeling that warm energy of love all around his heart. Maybe Larry didn't understand how real those words were at that moment. That this was a love, lasting forever and even further than that. This love was the only thing he would ever need in life and that he always needed in the past.
Only minutes later the twins walked up to a small restaurant in the corner of a street, a door lowered in the ground so Lau had to make himself pretty small to get down the two stairs into the room. It has been only three weeks since the two of them were in their favorite restaurant, a small french cafe in one of the less crowded parts of Paris. All the waitresses and even the chef knew them, one of them being a close friend to the twins since childhood. Laurent was nervous to bring Larry here without giving everyone a warning about him losing his memory. He didn't want his brother to feel bad or uncomfortable because people kept trying to talk to him that he didn't know. Larry might get a panic attack or anxiety, which Laurent really tried to avoid.
"Okay Bunny. So this is a place we used to go almost every other day when we were in Paris, so the people here know us. Don't be afraid of that okay? They will tell you some stories I believe and just be nice to you."
With a nod Larry took his brothers hand, just in case, and sat up in his wheelchair. Seconds after, a waitress came over, smiling at them, eyeing the wheelchair with a cute grin.
"Did he twist his knee again or is it something else for once in your life.", she stated, laughing a little while hugging Laurent.
"He got shot actually... and lost his memory.", he explained openly, making Larry squeeze his hand in discomfort.
"Sorry bunny. I don't know how to explain it more subtle...", he whispered and carefully rubbed his shoulder. The waitress on the other hand looked at Lar with curiosity.
"Oh but that's... well in some points that is actually good or not? Like starting over I would love that. Just forgetting all the problems for a while and not having to remember any of it."
With a chuckle Laurent shook his head over the women.
"How about you introduce yourself before getting in love with the idea of shooting yourself and forgetting your problems..."
"Yeah that's right. I'm Elaine and it's a pleasure to meet you Larry.", she said smiling, offering her hand to Larry, who happily accepted it and smiled proud at Laurent.
"My first friend Lau.", he whispered and smiled, showing off his bunny teeth and his glowing eyes. It was the kind of glow you only find in children's eyes, when they achieved something they were incredibly proud of. Like their first drawing or first cake made out of sand. Exactly that glow. And Laurent would die to see this glow in his eyes every new day from now on.
"Yes my love. Your first friend.", Laurent whispered, hugging his twin tightly to show him all the love building inside of him every second he experienced with his twin.
