Later that warm august evening, there's a frantic rapid knock on Bill Denbrough's front door. Georgie was up in his room playing with his toys, and Mr. and Mrs. Denbrough were in the kitchen dancing to a Whitesnake song. The four boys were all sitting around Bill's living room goofing off and playfully picking on each other when they heard the knocking. Stan, who was the closest to the door, was voluntold to go answer it. When Stan opened the door, he was laughing at something Richie said to Eddie to make the germaphobe blush in embarrassment. When he made eye contact with his and the other 3 boys' future mother-in-law, he was very confused.
"Mrs. Sympox?" Stan questioned.
"Hey Stan, I was just wondering if Loretta was here? She was supposed to come home to help with moving her Aunt Gen out of her apartment earlier, but she never came home. I just wanted to make sure she was here and just forgot to let me know she changed her mind." Mrs. Sympox stated worriedly.
Mrs. Sympox had a bad feeling about this. Her Loretta would never do something like this. She was an angel. Lorie made sure to always tell her mom where she was and how long she was going to be before she was to get home. But today she never got confirmation on when she was coming home. She didn't think anything of it when she saw Lorie run out of the house with her green food coloring and a small cup of Mr. Sympox's black acrylic paint saying she was going to go see Eddie and Richie for a little while. She expected she was just going to prank them, visit with them for a little while and then come back home. It also wasn't a huge problem because they both lived within a safe walking distance for her 14-year-old daughter to get to and from their house.
"No ma'am she's not here. She wasn't supposed to be here. She told Eddie, Bill, and Richie that she was heading home after she hung out with them earlier. Georgie was there too, so..." Stan scrunches his face up in confusion, knowing without a doubt she wasn't here and she wasn't supposed to be here. Stan remembers her telling them weeks ago about this, so they could plan to hangout outside of her time with her aunt. Bill, Eddie, and Richie even said she was heading straight home after seeing them. This didn't make sense to him.
"Stan she ha-" Mrs. Sympox started but was 'kindly' interrupted by the other boys coming to see why Stan was taking so long at the door.
"Yo Stan, what's the hold up?"
"S-St-S-Stan who's a-at the D-d-d-d-d-oor?"
"Richie, do you have to be so obnoxious?"
Richie, Bill, and Eddie stop their banter and conversations when they see Lorie's mom at the door looking very faint and pale.
"Stan, you don't understand, she has to be here, she always tells me where she goes. I haven't seen her since noon earlier today, if she's not here? Then, where is she?" Mrs. Sympox spirals out feeling dizzier by the minute at the thought of her daughter not being safe and sound.
"I'm sorry, what did you just say?" Richie says in disbelief.
"S-S-She's not m-m-m-m-missing! She c-can't be!" Bill mutters softly.
Eddie is in shock right now; he can't form words.
Hearing about Lorie made Bill, Eddie and Richie immediately freeze. Ice cold panic starts to run through them. Lorie wouldn't run off like this. They know her. Something is wrong here, really wrong.
"Are you sure she didn't leave a note or anything?" Eddie questioned hopefully. Richie gave Eddie the 'are you fucking stupid' look. "Eddie, Lorie doesn't fucking leave notes. She makes sure she tells someone. She doesn't write notes dipshit." Richie said flatly rolling his eyes. Eddie, who is offended by Richie's words, begins to retaliate, which starts up round 4,638 of the "Argument of Reddie" as Lorie so affectionately deemed it.
