Race Against Time prt. 2

His voice is different. Like nostalgia. I lay my head on his chest and listen to his heartbeat, remembering all the time we used to spend together.

I've been back for a week now. It's quite different than I remember. It feels strange, but I blame that on my absence for three years. Mingi seems completely different than what I remember. He's not as bubbly as he used to be. He seems more calm. Though he clearly missed me. He's spent most of his time with me now, like my shadow.

I've been trying to think of ways to cheer him up. So that's why we're on our way to the place we first met. The skatepark where he dropped his ice cream on my board. Which is actually the board I'm taking with me. Mingi has since gotten a new board, but this skatepark holds good memories for us.

Upon arriving at the skatepark, we put on all our gear before kicking off. We perform all the tricks and stunts we used to when we were younger. After about an hour or so of skating, we come to a stop. We're both really sweaty so we check our bags only to find were out of water.

"Huh.. Come with me." I say and take his hand. I take him over to the nearby ice cream parlor and go up to the counter to order. Two strawberries. (If you don't like strawberry ice cream you can pick your own. And if you can't have dairy.. Then candy or something? :D)

The woman behind the bar goes to make the order and brings them back to us. I pay before we head out the door to ride our boards home while eating. During the ride, I decide to poke some fun at him.

"Hey, don't drop it on my board like the first time. That was really sticky and hard to come clean you know!" I nagged at him, sticking my tongue out. He bursts out laughing. "I can't make any promises. You know I just love teasing you baby bear." he nags back.

It's good to see the old Mingi again, the one I know. It deeply hurt me to not see him smiling when I came back k, but of course it's understandable. He almost lost his life. According to what the doctor said, it's a miracle he didn't.

Mingi is my best friend, and I'll do anything to see him continue to smile and be happy. I look over to see him enjoying his ice cream. He looks much more cheerful now. This brings a smile to my own face.

He looks over at me. "What? Is there something on my face? Do I look funny?"

"Yeah, you do have something on your face. It's happiness. And no, you look wonderful. Please keep smiling." I say honestly. His cheeks tint pink which makes my heart leap.

Honestly, I've had a small crush on Mingi since after a year of meeting him. He doesn't know of course. I'm scared to tell him. Especially now.

The boy laughs a little as he finishes his ice cream. I finish mine as well and ride by a trash can, throwing the small wrapper into the bin. Mingi does the same then joins me at my side. He kicks the skateboard from under his feet and walks beside me.

After a few minutes, I join him in walking and carry my board in my bag. Mingi wraps his arm around my neck and pulls me into him still walking. As soon as my head presses against him, I take in his manly scent. His smell is strong, but not overpowering. It doesn't give me a headache. Instead, it draws me to him more making me wrap my arm around his waist.

I can feel that he has a smile on his lips. It feels so comfortable walking with him like this. It doesn't feel awkward or embarrassing one bit. And from the way he walks, I can tell he's comfortable as well. Small things like this make me the happiest.

Back at home, Junyoung has been waiting on us. We walk through the door hand-in-hand. Junyoung freaks out like a little fanboy.

"Oh my gosh oh my gosh is it official?" he squeals running up to Mingi. "Did you finally tell her?"

King's expression turns into pure shock and panic. He slaps his hand over Junyoung mouth and drags him away from me. Leaving me here confused as to what he meant.

I laugh it off and go up to my room to change into more comfortable clothes. My bunny pajamas and fuzzy pink socks are perfect, especially with the weather starting to get cold out.

I go to the kitchen and make some hot cocoa and then sit in front of the burning flame in the fireplace. The crackling of the fire, the steam from my hot cocoa, and the distant sound of kids playing outside are all very calming. It isn't long before I feel myself dozing off.

Mingi P.O.V

After sorting things out with Junyoung, I walk back down stairs to find y/n. She wasn't in her room when I knocked. I look around in the kitchen, in the laundry room, and in the living room. After not being able to find her, I finally look in the study room.

There she is sleeping in the chair in front of the fireplace. She looks so peaceful in her bunny pajamas. Her fuzzy socks add to the cuteness. She looks like a big baby. The sigh brings a smile to my face.

I walk over and kneel down beside her, reaching g over to move a strand of hair out of her eyes. She groans and shifts around a bit before slowly opening her eyes. Once she sees me, a bright smile lightens up her face.

"Ready for bed?" I ask her. She just nods slightly. God, she's so cute. That cute messy hair, her beautiful face, her tiny nod. This makes me remember my fate. Soulmate... If such a thing exists, I hope she's just like y/n.. Or even if y/n is.. No, I would never be so lucky.

I snap back to reality and pick her up in my arms holding her bridal style. She wraps her arms around my neck and lays her head on my chest, making my heart melt. If only this girl knew the affects she has on me..

I walk her up to her room and lay her on her bed. Before I can leave however, she drags me back down into the bed with her.

"Please don't leave me. Stay with me for the night." she says half-asleep. Oh, my heart. I don't know if I can handle this anymore. This girl will be the death of me.

"Are you sure?" I ask her. She's half asleep and I don't want to shock her. She sits up and wraps her arms around my waist, pulling me into the bed with her. She makes me lay beside her and snuggles up to me. I instantly wrap my arms around her as well and hold her close to me. She's so small and warm.

Oh how I wish this moment would never end. I wish she could be mine. I wish that she's my soulmate.. If such a thing exists.
