Mani's P.O.V

Well, she actually did it. Lauren got the notice with a date to appear in court for parental rights for Aiden. I really didn't think that she would, seeing as this could potentially be a waste of time. I don't get why she can't just talk to Aiden to understand why he doesn't want to be involved with her. I don't feel like he should be forced to do anything with her. Aiden was fine all these years without her. I wonder if she's just doing this out of spite? Based on her past behaviors, I kind of believe that might be the reason.

The one person I didn't expect to be so upset, is Aiden. I guess he over heard Lauren and I talking about it and now he's in the kitchen talking to himself because he's so mad.

"I didn't know I could hate this woman even more!" He mutters to himself and slams the refrigerator door.

"What did the refrigerator ever do to you?" I say as I sit down at the island. Aiden huffs from his spot across from me and runs his hand through his hair.

"I don't want this woman in my life Ma. Can I testify or something?" He asks and I nod my head.

"You can speak on your behalf. You're old enough to share your opinion. Are you sure you want to?" I ask and he nods his head vehemently.

"Yes! I don't want anything to do with this woman." I nod my head.

"You might be able to just tell the judge that and end this whole thing." I say and he nods.

"I really have enough stress in my life." He says with a sigh and I laugh.

"You have stress? Don't get me started." Aiden chuckles then leans against the island, parallel to me.

"I propose a family vacation. I don't care where we go, let's just get the heck out of dodge." I chuckle and Aiden laughs along with me.

"I second that. After all this legal stuff is over, I'll get right on that." Aiden nods.

"Is it okay if Christina comes over? Please hold any awkward sex jokes." I laugh and Aiden rolls his eyes.

"You know I don't care if she comes over."

"Cool. I have to go study for a history exam so..." He stands slowly.

"Okay. Just don't start talking to yourself again. You'll scare the kids." Aiden sticks his tongue out at me as he leaves. I stand and go to the refrigerator, I guess I can start dinner. I grab some ingredients to make chicken tacos then bring them to the counter.

"I'm not sure. Uh huh. Ok. I'll see you then A. Bye." I hear from behind me. I glance over my shoulder and see Lauren coming into the kitchen.

"A is coming over this weekend. What's for dinner?" She asks.

"Chicken tacos. Just Ally?" I ask as I prepare the chicken.

"Well, her smaller and much louder half will probably appear too. Is that an elf ability I didn't know about? Being able to just appear?" Lauren smirks and I shake my head but don't hide the smile the comment caused.

"How was your day?" I ask and glance over my shoulder to see her.

"It was boring to say the least. What about yours?" She responds.
