Chapter 51

Mani's P.O.V

"Are you absolutely sure he was high?" I ask Lauren, who is standing across from me. I'm still lying in bed right now but I apparently am going to have to get up to see why my son thought it was okay to come home high.

"I think I know what weed smells like Mon." Lauren says frustratedly.

"What do you suppose we do?" I ask her and she shakes her head.

"I have no fucking idea. I mean, me being Lauren....don't think weed is that bad, but not when you're 16 and my kid." She says.

"Yeah but he drove home like that. What if he would have gotten pulled over?" Lauren groans.

"How can we even be sure it was just weed? There's new drugs out there every day. I just...ugh! I never would have thought he would do something so stupid!" Lauren exclaims.

"I'm really trying not to over react here, but fuck... there should be a fucking handbook attached to every kid." Lauren says and I sigh.

"Come sit down." I tell her and she shakes her head.

"I'm too pissed." She says.

"Come sit down Lauren." I say with more conviction. Lauren huffs but comes to sit next to me. I move behind her so that's she's between my legs and I begin to rub her shoulders.

"If we get mad at him, all it's going to do is make the situation worse. We need to find out if this is a habit or an experiment. We've both had our fair share of being high. We just never got caught." I tell her.

"But I'm worried he's making the wrong decisions now because of what's going on in our lives. He hasn't talked about his feelings towards Camila anymore and everyday that passes just puts us closer to the day he'll have to start seeing her." Lauren says.

"I know. Aiden might be feeling a lot of things right now and he might be at a point where he's just done telling us things. So, maybe a counselor will have to be apart of his punishment." I tell her.

"But if it's a punishment, he won't get anything from it." She says and I sigh. She's right.

"How about, it's a requirement to get his car back?" I say and Lauren nods.

"I like that idea."

"Good. Feeling more calm?" I ask her and she nods her head as I keep kneading her shoulders.

"I'm still not ready to see him though." She says and I nod.

"Okay. As much as I hate having to be hard on him for this, especially because we did it, I know we can't take this lightly." I tell her and she nods.

"How about we lie down for a little while or until a child needs us, and then we talk to Aiden?"

"I can live with that." Lauren turns her head towards me and pecks my lips.

So that's exactly what we did...we laid in bed for almost more time than I'm willing to admit. Sierra and Jordan have periodically been in here, laying with us. Lauren and I decided to tell them about the baby last week, and luckily there were no negative reactions. Sierra is excited to no longer be the baby, but I think she's under the impression that the baby is going to be her baby doll. Jordan is uninterested mostly and just asks a lot of questions. After giving him the sex talk, he is kind of grossed out that we did that to get the new baby. Aiden, honestly was less excited than I thought he would be. It seemed like he was happy but...I don't know. He's just seemed off.
