Chapter 49

Mani's P.O.V

"Hi, Mani. Dr. Kellar here, how are you doing?" She says from the other line of the phone.

"I'm fine. What can I do for you?" I ask and she lets out a nervous giggle from her end.

"I know you're probably worried since I called so late but it's not bad news so go ahead and breathe." She says and I automatically let out a relieved sigh.

"Okay, great because I was panicking a little bit. What's going on?" I ask. I look over and see Lauren watching me with interest.

"Well, I'm calling because we had a few technical issues down in the lab since the last time we spoke. Something happened and it read every sample in it's normal values. Unfortunately we just caught the mistake. I ran your blood work through again and..."

Lauren's P.O.V.

"I'm pregnant?!" Normani yells. Pregnant?!

"Holy shit." I whisper to myself.

"Okay...yes tomorrow will be fine. Okay, I'll see you then. Goodbye." Mani says then she looks at me with wide eyes.

"Oh my god..." She says softly.

"Um...are you okay?" I ask. I put my hand on Normani's when I don't get a response and she looks at me, still wide eyed from shock.

"I can't believe it. They had something happen in the lab and all the test results came back wrong...I'm pregnant."

"This...is good though? Right? I'm happy about it, surprised but happy." I tell her and she blinks a few times before leaning back into the couch.

"Yeah...I just didn't expect this."

"I mean...I kind of told you so." Mani glares at me and I chuckle.

"Look at it like this, we've had a lot of shit thrown at us this year. Maybe this is the light at the end of the tunnel? Who doesn't love babies? Adorable...slobbery...loud...smelly...needy...babies. I just talked myself out of wanting another kid." Mani looks at me and shakes her head.

"Honestly Lauren, are we really ready for another kid?" She asks and I shrug.

"Doesn't matter because they're coming either way." Mani nods her head and puts her hand on her stomach.

"We are not telling your parents yet. They'll be on the first plane out here and as much as I love them, they can be..."

"Overbearing? Yeah I know Mani. No worries. What about the kids?" I ask.

"We should probably tell them sooner than later, but I think Aiden has gotten enough news for the day." I nod my head then lie down with my head in Normani's lap.

"How do you think they'll handle it?" I ask her.

"No idea. I have to go see Dr. Kellar tomorrow for an ultrasound to gauge how far along I am." Mani says.

"What time? I'll come."

"10. I just hope the baby is okay. You remember what happened with Sierra. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if something happened." She says dejectedly and I shake my head.
