TASY's POV
Graduation day, lahat kami ay may masasayang ngiti habang kumukuha ng picture sa isa't isa.
"Mendoza, Anastasia Tasy, with high honors" My heart thumped as i walked through the stage, with my Mama beside me.
Sinuot niya sa akin ang medal at bumaba na kami sa stage. Matagal ang naging graduation ceremony pero nang matapos ay napuno iyon ng kasiyahan na may halo na lungkot.
"You can come with us, Mikayla" yaya ko kay Mikayla, she just shook her head at sinabing may kasama na siya mag celebrate, maybe her boyfriend.
"Asan si Macsimo? Let's invite him" Mama said, ngumiti lang ako sa kaniya, "Mag dinner daw po sila ng parent niya, Ma." Tumango lang ito sa akin at sinabing mauuna na sa kotse.
My eyes widened when i saw my boyfriend at the crowd, i waved my hands at him and he started running towards me. Sinalubong niya ako ng mahigpit na yakap. I was smiling when he put me down, dahil medyo umangat ako sa pagkakayakap niya.
"Baby, congratulations!" I said, he kissed my cheeks, "Congratulations, baby. I'm proud of you" Anito. I smirked at him and pinched his cheek, "I'm proud of you, too. My Drummer." He smiled at bumitaw na sa pagkakayakap sa akin.
"Hm, I'll go, now, okay?" Sabi nito pagkatapos namin mag-usap at mag picture gamit ang instax. Ngumiti ako sa kaniya at tumango, i gave him the polaroid. Dalawa kasi iyon, isa sa akin at sa kaniya.
"Sure, let's meet later there, 'kay?" Sabi ko. Tumango lang siya akin at mariin akong hinalikan sa labi. Ngumiti ako sa kaniya at nagpunta na sa kotse.
I was all smile nang makauwi kami sa bahay, pumasok ako sa loob at agad napawi ang ngiti ka nang makita ko ang taong ayoko na makita.
"Congratulations, anak!" He said, looking happy. Huminga ako ng malalim at tumango sa kaniya,
"Thanks, Dad." My jaw clenched when he hugged me. My Mama was smiling, but i know deep inside, she's hurt. I know she still loves my father, pero mukhang mas mahal nito ang kumpanya niya kesa sa amin na pamilya niya.
We ate together, the four of us. Tahimik lang ako habang si Kuya ang sumasagot sa mga tanong ni Dad.
"Anak, do you want to study in the US? You know, for better education." Anito, habang paakyat na ako sa kwarto at magbibihis na para maghanda at kitain si Macsimo.
"I...I'll think about it," Sabi ko. He smiled, "I'll be leaving later, mamayang daling-araw." Tumango lang ako sa kaniya at nagpunta na sa kwarto.
Nang matapos kong magbihis at magpahinga, lumabas ako at nagpaalam sa mga magulang ko bago umalis.
My father was smiling at me, pero hindi iyon pinansin. Gabi na ng makarating ako sa view. And Macsimo's not here. Sakto lang naman ang dating ko? Maybe he'll get a little late, that's okay.
I was sitting on the hood of my car when suddenly, Theron appeared infront of me. He looked serious, and at the same time, mukhang may tagumpay na namumutawi sa kaniyang mukha. I raised my eyebrows at him, feeling uncomfortable.
"What are you doing here?" Tanong ko sa kaniya, he smiled. "Are you waiting for you boyfriend?" Tanong nito. My brows furrowed, feeling suspicious of the way he was talking.
"He's running a little late, is he?" Hindi ko siya sinagot, dahil totoo naman. Macsimo's running a little late but I don't mind waiting a few minutes.
"Well, sorry for being a bummer, but he won't come." Nangunot ang noo ko dahil sa sinabi niya, "A-ano?" Naguguluhan kong tanong.
He handed me something, a whie enveloped with gold designs. He told me to open it, kaya ginawa ko.
My mind went havoc, and my heart thumped loudly when i read what's written on the card.
You're invited on Macsimo and Issa's engagement party!
I was still processing because of it when Theron suddenly hugged me, i was about to push him when i heard a familiar voice.
"What the fuck is this, Tasy?" Tinulak ko si Theron palayo sa akin at hinarap si Macsimo. Unti-unting nag bagsakan ang mga luha ko, dahil nagsink-in na sa akin ang nabasa ko.
He's...engaged?
"M-macsimo..." utal kong sabi. Parang may nakabara sa lalamunan ko, hindi magawang magsalita. I was still holding the envelope when suddenly, Macsimo went to his car, and drove off. Pinunasan ko ang mga luha ko sa pisnge.
I went inside my car, and ran to him. Hindi ko siya masyadong nasundan dahil nawala siya sa paningin ko, maybe he'll go to his house, right? I went there and my heart broke when i saw that there was a party happening inside.
Umiiyak ako nang marinig ko ang tunog ng phone ko, my friends are messaging me, asking me where i was because Macsimo was with them, and he was quiet.
Agad akong nag drive papunta doon, at nang dumating ako, my friends were drinking. It was Mikayla's birthday. I sat down infront of Macsimo, who's drinking and not glancing at me.
Gusto ko siyang tanungin, kung totoo ba ang nabasa at nakita ko sa bahay nila. My friends decided to go home, dahil sa hindi malaman na dahilan.
Hinabol ko sa parking lot si Macsimo, i was ready to confront him.
"Macsimo!" I shouted. Tumigil siya kaya pumunta ako sa harap niya.
Binato ko sa dibdib niya ang envelope na hawak ko, he sighed heavily at kinuha iyon. Nanlaki ang mata niya sa nabasa niya.
"You are engaged?" Nanghihina kong tanong. Nalukot ang envelope dahil sa pagkakakuyom ng kamao niya,
"Yes, i am fucking engaged." My heart broke into pieces, when said that without hesitation.
"And you had the guts, and the opportunity to cheat me with your ex?" Anito. Naguguluhan ko siyang tinignan, tears streaming down my face. Nanlaki ang mata ko dahil nakita kong umiiyak rin siya.
"Tasy, someone fucking sended me a picture of you two, kissing..." nanghihina nitong sabi. Nagulat ako sa sinabi niya, what? Anong...
"Anong sinasabi mo?! I would never do that to you! Ikaw, ikaw ang walang sinasabi sa akin!" Umiiyak kong sabi at dinuro siya.
"Ayan, tignan mo!" He showed me a picture of me and Theron kissing, at hindi ako makapaniwala.
"That's not true, Macsimo!" Sigaw ko. He shook his head, sinabunutan niya ang sarili niya at lumayo sa akin.
"I don't know...what to do anymore." He said, crying.
"Macsimo, maniwala ka..." Umiiyak kong saad at nilapitan siya. He shook his head, stepping away from me.
"This fucking engagement? I broke it off months ago, ni hindi ko ito pinaabot ng araw, Tasy! Pero, ikaw? Nagawa mo 'to?" Mariin niyang sabi.
"Hindi nga totoo yan, Macsimo! Maniwala ka sa akin! Ako ang paniwalaan mo, Macsimo!" I shouted and reached for him.
"My father said...he saw you." Mas lalo akong nanlumo. That's not true, Macsimo...
"Hindi yan totoo..." Umiiyak kong sabi. Bumitaw siya sa akin at tinitigan ako sa mata.
And with that look, i was scared. It scared me, because he was looking at me like i was some stranger, like he was ready to let me go, leave me.
"Let's break up." With those words, he left me there. Trying to tell him that it's not true, that his father was lying to him.
