Downfall

Chapter 10: Mia

I was going to tell him the next day about it, but I chicken out. Daniela told me to unchicken and go tell him that I like him. I couldn't, what if he doesn't like me and things between us get weird. I like Grayson's company.

I was driving around the city to distract myself from thinking about Grayson. I needed a me time. As I was about to turn right, I saw a little girl on the streets. I made a left and parked there. It broke my heart. She was wearing an old dress and it was already dirty and had holes. She appeared to be three years old.

"Hey sweetie. Are you alone?" I asked as I approached her.

She just nodded.

"Do you have parents or siblings with you?"

"No, just me." She quivered her lips.

"How long have you been alone?" I asked as I sat next to her.

She started to count from 1 to 5 and the she stopped and looked at me, "too many."

"Tell you what, let's go to my house, and you can have a shower and some warm food. I'm sure you fit in my dolls clothes." I tickled her. She giggled.

I got up and extended my hand, she took it. We got on my car and drove home. On the way there, she told me her name is Mia. This little person doesn't deserve to be on the streets.

We arrived home and my parents and brother looked at me confuse.

"Everyone, meet Mia." I announced.

They all greeted her and then my brother took her to the backyard. I told my parents her story.

"Okay, so we have to tell the police, and I'll call the doctor to come check her up and see that she's fine." Dad told me.

"If it turns out she doesn't have anyone, she can stay with us. It's been a while since we've had a toddler running around the house." Mom added.

I chuckled. "Mia, is so adorable. I hope we can keep her here."

"So do I. Let's go pinch those cute chubby cheeks." Dad added. Mom nodded and they made a run.

They didnt care dhat she wasnt cleaned or anything. Those two have baby fever. Sometimes things happen for a reason, I wasnt even supposed to be on that street. I entered there by mistake.

Mom gave Mia, a bath and then we all had dinner. Not sure which one is more excited. Mom, dad or my brother. They were all in awe and wouldn't leave her alone. She didn't mind. They put her in the guest bedroom and she fell asleep immediately.

I was watching a movie on the couch and then I saw my parents sat down next to me.

"I think Mia will be a great addition to the family. You had a difficult time delivering Hunter, and you wanted another kid." I smiled as I grabbed mom's hand.

She smiled. The doctor told her that if she got pregnant again, it could risk her life. Dad got fixed.

"Tomorrow I'll get answers about her, if she doesn't have anyone, then we will adopt her." Dad added.

I squealed. I've always wanted a baby sister. Hunter got mad when I did pigtails on his hair when he was four years old. Good times.

"Your dream would come true. I still remember those pigtails, man they hurt my tiny head." Hunter chimed in as he sat next to me.

We laughed.

"But you were the cutest four year old." I pinched his cheeks. He rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, my scalp was hurting of how tight they were." He sighed as we laughed.

We heard sobbing. We looked to our right and saw Mia.

"I'm scared." Mia sobbed.

"Would you like if I sleep with you tonight?" Mom asked her. 

"Yes."

"Alright, let's go." Mom picked her up and Mia rested her little head on the crook of mom's neck. "Let's go gave a slumber party." They left after that.

"Yeah, mom has baby fever. Good thing Mia is here." I giggled as I watch them.

"Tomorrow we will know if she has family or not." Dad told me.  I nodded. He got up and went to the guest bedroom where mom and Mia are. 

"So, can I do pigtails on your hair?" I asked hunter.

"Bye." He made a run. I laughed. 

Never a dull moment in my family. I hope Mia gets to stay here.
