Chapter 12: This Sucks

Monday morning came, we stopped with the pranks, for this week at least. We needed a little break.

I felt a little person on my back. This kid is always up early.

"Why are you on my back, little one?" I mumbled in my sleep.

"It's fun." She giggled.

She got off my back and I tickled her. She laughed. "Morning, munchkin."

"Morning." She gave me a hug. "I'm happy, here." She smiled.

"And we're happy you are here too." I gave her a kiss on her cheek.

"You my sister?"

"Since they're in the process of adopting you, yes." I said and she gave me a big bear hug.

Mia is so sweet. The sweetest toddler you'll ever meet.

Arrived at school and made my way to my locker. But when I got there, I got a sight that shattered me.

"Let's give this a try, I missed you." Mara kissed Grayson.

I couldn't stay and watch, I went to the library. I won't cry I wont cry. He's not worth it.

After all my classes were over I made a run to my car. I avoided Grayson all day. Especially since he was with whory, Mara.

I arrived home and was met by Mia jumping in my arms. Then she gave me a hug.

"Well, I certainly needed this hug, munchkin." I gave her a kiss on her cheek and then put her down.

She went to the backyard to play on the swings. I plopped on the couch and mom sat next to me.

"Do I want to know?"

"I saw Grayson kissing his ex. I never thought that I would feel jealous, but I did, still am. Why did I have to like him this year?"

"Maybe you always liked him, you just hid it by hating him." She replied.

I sat properly and then asked, "was dad ever mean to you? Did you hated him at first and then turned to love?"

She chuckled. "Yes, your dad was an asshole when we met, you see, before your dad, I never had a boyfriend. I was with my best friend Jared, at a bakery and then that's when my lies started."

"What lies?"

"Well, the queen bee back then, enjoyed bullying me, she made fun cause I've never had a boyfriend, I saw Jared scrolling through Instagram and your dad's profile appeared so I said he was my boyfriend." She gave me a cheeky smile.

"Only you mom." I chuckled, "continue please."

"The next day the lies caught up to me and the queen bee spotted me, she told Isaac I said he was my boyfriend and he played along. Came with a price though. I had to be his pet dog. I did his homework and he owned me for a month." She rolled her eyes. I laughed.

"And in that month, I got to know the most incredible woman in the world." Dad sat down next to mom and gave her a kiss on her cheek.

"He wasn't the cheesiest guy, but he was romantic and made me fall for his jerk ways." She grinned at him. He pecked her lips.

"Your story should be a book." Hunter chimed in as he sat next to me.

"A master and his dog." Dad chuckled.

"A dog that fell for her master and was rebel and never obeyed him." She poked his dimples. We chuckled.

I smiled looking at them. Their love gets intense with each day that passes. I want that. Maybe one day I will.

"I want cake." Mia asked dad as she squished his cheeks.

"You got it, little princess." He picked her up and took her to the kitchen.

"I think dad was the one with baby fever. He has the no button broken when it comes to Mia." Hunter chuckled.

"Yeah, but a hot man with a toddler is very sexy." Mom said in a daze as she got up and followed dad and Mia.

We shook our heads. Mom is something else.

I can't seem to put it in Mara's head that I have no interest in her. She has been following me all day and I haven't seen Nikki today.

"Gray bear, let's get back, this time I promise I wont be clingy and jealous." She told me while wrapping her arms around my neck.

We were at the parking lot. I removed her hands from my neck. The only person I want to be like this, is Nikki.

"Mara, I don't like you like that anymore. I've moved on, I'm interested in someone else."

"But I love you, we belong together." She screeched.

"We don't belong together. My heart is with someone else. Now move it." With that said, I got in the car and drove off.

After our big finale I'm telling her how I feel. Nikki is driving me crazy and I can't wait to be with her. I Just hope it's mutual.
