Chapter 6: Safe In Your Arms

I arrived to the hell hole I call, home. Funny how kids call that high school, but that's actually my safe place. When I entered the house, I was thrown to the floor by the one and only.. James Peterson, A.K.A, my step dad.

"Stop embarrassing us, a fight, are you fucking with me!" He yelled.

"I wish your dad would've taken you to the grave. Now I get stuck with you." Mom said as she rolled her eyes.

I cried, I don't deserve this. I cant wait to be eighteen.

"I'm a very important man in this city, do you think I have time to deal with you?" He slapped me and then kicked me.

"Next time, think twice." With that said, my mom dug her nails on my arm and then scratch my cheeks. "You were only born cause of your father, I wanted to abort you."

"I hate you both so much." I yelled as more tears kept falling.

"Well, get the hell away from here, don't come back. You belong on the streets anyway." James said as mom laughed.

I ran far from home and called a cab. After a 30 minute drive, I arrived to one of the few places, I felt safe. They opened the door and were in shock. We walked to the couch and I took a seat.

"What the hell, who-" She stopped mid sentence. She figured who it was. "I'm going to kill them!"

"They're not worth it, just hold me for a while." I cried. She hugged me, I've missed her embrace. "Why did you leave me?"

"Your step father threatened me. He said if I didn't end things with you, he would kill you. And I believed him. I didn't want anything to happen to you. I love you way too much." She caressed my face.

"He threw me out, and I just wanted for you to hold me, even if it's just for a while. Because I'm still very much in love with you, Lori." I caressed her face as more tears fell down my cheeks.

"Well, then nothing is stopping us now, baby girl. You're mine forever." She wiped my tears.

"Yours forever." I placed a soft kiss on her lips. How much I've missed her.

We broke up two months ago, but my heart never moved on, it's always been Lori. We've been together for a year.

"Now let's get those wounds clean and see if anything is broken."

She is studying to become a nurse. She's a year older than me. But we fit so damn perfectly.

"You're staying with me, baby girl." She smiled as I did too.

I got a call from Lori, she told me everything that happened and I wanted to kill James. How dare he fucking lays a finger on her. I also wanted to kill her mom. Some people are just not meant to be parents. I told my parents what happened, and they were also furious. Everyone here loves Daniela.

"Dad, we have to send them to jail, they hurt a minor." My voice was breaking.

"I'm about to call the best lawyer in town. Don't worry, little princess, those two are going to wish they never lay a hand on Dani." Mom answered as she was dialing a number on her phone.

I nodded. I texted Grayson about what happened. He wasn't happy either. He was furious. Dani is the sweetest girl, I don't know why people just enjoy attacking her.

Our parents gave us our phones back, they had a bad a feeling and wanted us to be alerted just in case she called us.

"Okay, she will take Daniela's case." She told me while hugging me and my brother. "Some people are just not meant to be parents."

"Dani is in good hands right now. She got back with Lori. James seriously needs jail. And a little suffering never hurt anyone." I gave them a cheeky smile.

"Definitely your daughter." Dad told mom. She rolled her eyes.

"My sister and I are lucky." He smiled as we did too.

We really are lucky. Not many people have loving and caring parents.
