Finally!!!

I looked at Lara. “You’re right.” I turned to Salem. “We’re goddesses.”
“Wow, blunt much?” Lara asked.
“Just trying to be real.” Turning back to Salem, I covered the three of us in deep shadows, and turned into my goddess form. Not my full blown, not to hurt him, but my bearable to human eyes form. Lara followed my example, and Salem went speechless.
Staying in my goddess form, but shrinking down to his size, I gave him a hug. “I know it’s a lot to process, but you have to promise you won’t tell anybody, okay?”
After taking a deep breath to calm himself down, he nodded. “I promise. But, you guys look… extremely different.”
I looked in the mirror a few feet away from me. My usual waist long, straight black hair, was now wavy, and went to the back of my knees. My skin had a bit more colour, but not much. My eyes were marbled between their normal black and white, and my normal sloppy eyeshadow, mascara, and eyeliner were now flawless.
“Yep.” I changed back to my mortal form. After Lara did, I walked outside. Checking to make sure nobody was following me, I used a mix of some of my mortal and godly powers so that nobody, not even Lara, could track me. Covering myself in shadows, I started walking down the street.

----------------------------------------------------

A few miles down the road, the sun was starting to rise, and I could hear the world waking up. Some people were driving off to work, while others were just opening their doors after waking up. I had taken my shadows down by now, and I got a lot of looks. Some were weird, since this world is so judgemental of the way you dress, and some were happy looks, that I was up and walking outside this early. Either way, I didn’t really care.
Finally reaching the centre of town, I looked around until I found a small brick building that looked nearly abandoned. Walking over, I saw that it had just opened, and I smiled. “I love the library.”
Walking inside, I was greeted by a friendly looking woman with a warm smile. Shaking my hand, she introduced herself. “Hello, young lady. I’m Mary. Is there anything I can help you with?”
I smiled back. “Melaena, and yes, could you please point me to the mythology section?”
Mary guided me to a small section in the back of the library with a single bean bag chair, and a lot of dust. “Not many people request mythology around here, so this is all we have. There are a lot of larger libraries around town if you need more, though.”
“This is perfect,” I told her, walking over to the shelves.
“Have fun.”
After she left, I walked around the corner to the computer and looked up a few helpful call numbers. Walking back to the shelf, I pulled out around twenty different books, and sat them in a stack. Getting comfy in the bean bag, I pulled the first one out, and started my search.

----------------------------------------------------

I stayed there all day and night. I had to leave and shadow back in, covering myself in shadows so not to get in trouble, but about half way through the next day, I was almost finished with the last mythology book the library had, and I still hadn’t found what I was looking for. I sighed. “I’m never going to find it?”
“What are you looking for, dear?” Mary asked, walking up to do her hourly check on me. She was such a sweet woman.
I figure there was no harm done in telling her. She wouldn’t understand why, anyway. “I heard about this mythological being that is usually described as a black figure. He’s not a god, but not a mortal. I was trying to find more about him, since he sounded interesting.”
Mary went quiet for a minute. “You seem like a wonderful young girl, and since I’ve seen how gentle and caring you are with these books, I’m going to help you.” She turned and started walking away, signaling for me to follow. She stayed quiet until we reached a small empty section of wall in a deep corner of the top floor of the library. Pushing on a brick, a hidden door opened. “This, Melaena, is our rare books room.”
I walked into probably the biggest room in the library. Considering the size of the room, I expected more books, but there were really only a hundred or two. She walked over to a random shelf and pulled out a thin and extremely old looking book. Handing it to me, she said, “I believe this is what you’re looking for, dear. I’ve read it, and it sounds exactly like what you’re explaining to me. I’ll be back in an hour or two to check on you.”
“Thanks, Mary.”
“No problem, dear. It’s my please. Have fun.”
As I open the book, I get a weird feeling, like I was being called to the Underworld, but more powerful. Flipping to the first page, my vision went black.

----------------------------------------------------

When I opened my eyes, I was in what looked like the pit of Tartarus, except it was empty, and it didn’t feel hot. After a minute, I realised that I couldn’t feel anything at all.
Looking around, I saw a throne like I had seen in blob man's video. Suddenly, a black ball appeared in the chair. My eyes widened, but before I could say anything, it spoke. “Before you say anything, no, I’m not who you call blob man. I’m the spirit of the Book of Hidden Mythology. The book you are about to read is mythology that only Chaos himself, and those involved, know about. Your friend Mary doesn’t remember what she read, except for when she is asked about it, because of her being a mortal. But you, having godly blood, will remember, so you must take an oath. You can never say anything about what you read in here, nor tell anyone in any way. You can never hint to it, you can only have the knowledge, and think about it.”
“What happens if I talk or hint about it?”
“Easy. You, and all who know, will die.”
“You can’t kill me, I’m a goddess.”
“Everyone has a weakness, even the gods. Now, do you promise to only read and remember what is here? Swear on the Styx?”
Taking a deep breath, I nodded. “I swear on the Styx.”
“Then you may go.”
A second later, I’m back in the rare books room. Shaking off the weirdness of that whole situation, I sat down and started reading.

----------------------------------------------------

An hour later, I had finished the book. With all this new knowledge in my head, I felt oddly useless. I couldn’t tell, not even hint, to anyone that I knew the truth now. All I could do was follow the group until I can use my knowledge to find dad.
Standing up, the book suddenly gets really hot. Jerking back and dropping it, it engulfed itself in flames. As the fire falls to the floor, I hear, “Now no one else may ever learn the truth this way.”
When I look back down to where the book should be on the floor, I instead see the dice. Checking my watch, I see it’s nearly midnight. “Shit. I don’t wanna have to do two.”
Quickly, I grab the dice and roll. Three. Jason. I smiled. “Bye, bye, Birdie.”

----------------------------------------------------

Walking back to the hotel, knowing everyone will still be there, because as much as they hate us, Lara will not let them leave without me, I thought about how obvious it was.
It wasn’t obvious. You just know the truth now, so it seems obvious. The voice inside my head chided.
Shut up. Since when did I give you permission to talk?
Since when did I give you permission to control me.
Fuck off.
Shaking my head, I arrive back at the hotel at about six. I may or may not have made a few pit stops on the way. Anyway, walking back into the hotel, it’s nearly empty… except for a worried looking Salem sitting on the couch. Seeing me, he sprinted over. “Where the fuck have you been?”
“No.”
“What?” He asked, confused.
“No, you don’t cuss. Bad. It’s not yours or anyone else’s business where I’ve been. Is anyone else up yet?”
“Just Percy.”
I smiled. “Three.”
“What’re you doing?”
“Two.”
“Stop! What’re you doing?”
“One.”
“Melaena… whatever her last name is!” We suddenly hear Percy yelling from his room down the hall. He sprints down to Lara and I’s room, but stops mid-way when he sees me. “What did you do to Jason? Nobody left when you weren’t here, but the second you get back, Jason disappears!”
“Actually,” I said, walking up to him. “Mr. Showoff, he left a little over six hours ago. The dice appeared in front of  me, and I rolled it.”
“Well where were you at, then?” Percy asked angrily.
“As I was just telling Butterboy over here, it’s none of all y’alls business.”
Knowing he wasn’t gonna get any answers, he huffed and walked away. Turning, I walked back into my room to find a batshit crazy Laraline. “Where have you been!?” She screamed at me. “I couldn’t find you anywhere!”
Plopping down on the bed, I looked at her with a smile. “Can’t tell.”
