Twenty-Four

Flashback....

"Sweetheart let's go home already. I'm tired. We've been jogging for an hour already!" I told Ruf. "Hey!" I pat his shoulders when I noticed he isn't listening to me.

"Kane..." he said with his lips parted.

"What?" I asked and looked at the same direction where he's looking. "Oh my gosh." I whispered when we saw a car that got hit by a tree.

"Hey!" I yelled when Ruf started running to the car to check if there's still persons alive. I followed him.

My lips parted in shock when I realized that it was the king and queen who's inside the car together with their baby in the backseat.

"Oh my." I immediately grabbed the baby with me who's already crying. Good thing she's safe. We're not sure if the king and queen were still alive. Ruf tried to wake them up but they aren't responding anymore. The car was about to explode in any minute so we already left.

"Come faster!" We heard the police and the people running. There's no one here earlier. Who called them? Maybe someone saw the accident. I just hope they didn't saw us.

"Omg! Who's child is this?" Eunice, my best friend got a towel. We went here at her house since her house was the nearest from the park.

"Princess Brooklyn." I read the name on the baby's clothes.

"Oh my! Don't tell me this is the king and queen's daughter?" She said and dropped the towel in shock.

"Y-yes." I nervously said. I was also kind of nervous about what we're doing. Ruf turned on the TV so we can watch the news.

"The King Thechor and Queen Mila together with their daughter got into an accident. But there daughter was missing." The reporter on the TV said. My hands started to tremble.

I don't know what to do! If we surrender this baby... then they might think that we kidnapped her!

"Gosh! What will we do now? If you show this up... they will think that you purposely did all of this." Eunice shook her head, walking back and forth in front of me while I was still carrying the baby.

"We're gonna keep her." I said. Ruf and I are having trouble of having a baby. It's been years since we got married but we still don't have a child. I think it's a sign, it's a gift for us. It was meant for us... I think.

"Are you serious? She isn't just a normal baby, Kane." Eunice said but that won't make me change my mind. I know she's also worried about our safety since the baby I'm holding right now... is a princess. The princess who will soon take over the throne. Who will soon reign our kingdom.

"I'm sure about this. It's safe unless someone saw us. There's no evidence at all. Unless you'll say it to your friends." I rolled my eyes. I trust Eunice. I know she won't do that. We've been best friends for years.

"Of course I won't!" She said and went inside her room to check on her baby, Bry. She also has a baby who's the same age as the princess.

"You want me to be your mom?" I asked the baby like she would reply. She cutely giggled. She's so cute! Her cheeks and lips were pinkish.

So... that's how mom and dad found me. "Did the cops found you? Good thing they didn't caught you." I said, worried.

"Yeah. We burnt your clothes that day so there won't be any evidence." She said. After that, we already left and went back to the palace.
