"Do you need any help packing anything?" I asked not sure what to do with myself now that I was all packed. "Huh? Oh no i've got it. I'm good at this." He said. "Right, i guess you probably are." I nodded. "yea it gets kind of old after a while but you know." "Yea."

I grabbed my bag of clothes off the bed, which wasn't much. I was looking forward to picking up the rest of my stuff. We had stocked up on snacks at the store for the long ride. "Ok so it's about nine hours from here to home. I figured that would include stopping for meals and bathroom breaks. Then it's about an hour and forty three minutes to your place." He said.

"Kinda funny we lived so close to each other and had no idea right?" I asked. "Yea totally." "Here i'll take your bag." He said holding his hand out." I handed it to him and he loaded it into the car.

It was Friday morning and we were up by eight oclock. We had breakfast and packed everything and were ready to hit the road. He turned the radio on for the first part of the drive. "Yea i'll sing but i can't top you." I said. He laughed.

"You have a beautiful voice." He said. "Ha, I know that's not true but thank you." He glanced at me. "I like it." He said. "Well thanks." I watched many hours of American idol auditions and was still unsure of how so many people didn't know they couldn't sing. I was one of those people who knew they couldn't sing well, no matter how hard i tried.

We talked about growing up and our families so we would have some kind of idea what we were getting into and because if we were married these were things we would already know. "I feel like i totally know you." I said biting into another pretzel. "Right? So do i. And i don't just mean with the things you've told me." "Yea?" "Totally this weekend'll be a breeze." He said.

I laughed. "Well i hope you're right." "So if you weren't a singer what would you want to do?" I asked. "Oh for sure something else in music, i also like the technical aspect of it. Or maybe...a pilot." "Really?" I asked. "Yea, why? does that surprise you?" He asks. "No not really i guess but you should do it. I mean while your in Nashville doing the record you'll have some time." I said.

"I've actually taken lessons. I flew for my video i want crazy." He said. "Oh guess i missed that." I said. What about you?" He asked. "Mm a teacher. I love kids." I said. "Really? My mom is a teacher." "Oh that's awesome. What about your dad?" I asked. "He's a mechanic. What do your parents do?" He asked.

"Well my mom raised me and my two sisters plus two of my cousins. Then she was an activity therapist until they closed the place down. Then she started doing medical billing. Boring stuff if you ask me. My dad has worked at a factory running a machine for years. I mean since he was in his twenties. They are closing the place down. Which is sad because in a small town that IS a good job. And like three hundred some odd people work there. My brother in law just quit his steady paying job, took a pay cut to work there." I said.

"Oh that's horrible. What're they gonna do?" "I don't know. my dad is one of those strange people who actually likes to work." I said. "Oh that's awesome." He said.

"So who will we be seeing this weekend?" I asked. "Well my mom and dad. My grandparents a few aunts and uncles and cousins. And i thought we'd go see some of my friends." "Eek that's almost worse then your parents. what if they don't like me?" I asked. "Would it matter if your friends didn't like me?"

"Well yea maybe they see something i don't. If your friends hate me then maybe you'll want nothing to do with me. We'll go back home and I'll sleep on the couch and never speak to you!" I said. He took my hand. "You have nothing to be afraid of my friends are going to love you. And even if they don't that's ok because i still love you." His eyes grew wide. "I mean I'll still like you, you know what i mean." "Right...yea...of course." I said.

We arrived at hunters home town around six. His mom had been texting him on the way and mentioned she was cooking dinner. "I hope we have something good." I said as we were driving to his house. "I told mom to cook Gumbo, i love her gumbo." "I love gumbo." I said. "yea my moms a pretty good cook." "You know i was thinking if my mom is gonna invite everybody over for a get together thing. We should have some crawfish." I said.

"Oh totally, i haven't had some good crawfish in forever." He said. "Yea." I said nodding. "So when you came to Nashville your family didn't want to come with you?" I asked. "Well my mom did when i was younger but my dad stayed here to work now that I'm an adult she's moved back." He said. "Oh i see, cool." I said. "Yea but i get home enough and they make trips out. It is what it is." He said pulling his car to a stop in front of a nice house.

We got out. "I'm scared." I said leaning against his truck. "Now come on, i told you not to worry my parents are going to love you." He said. "I hope you're right." I said as he took my hand. I took deep breaths. "I know I'm right." He knocked on the door. His mother opened the door. "Oh my baby how i missed you give me a hug." His mother pulled him in. She let him go. "Oh I'm so happy to finally meet you!" She hugged me tight. "See." Hunter whispered.
