Chapter 16

Cheryl's pov:

After the reception I decided to take Billy to the park for a little just to get his legs moving after sitting in that church for almost two hours. I was still very emotional, but when I was thinking back to Veronica's speech I couldn't help but smile at all the amazing memories we all had together before graduating.

I was lost in my thoughts, watching Billy on the swing from the bench I was sitting on until I felt a presence beside me. I looked over to see Toni.

"You following me now?" I asked quietly.

"Just wanted to make sure you were okay" she replied, looking over at Billy as she smiled.

"How have you b-been?" I asked her nervously.

"I've been great actually. How about you?"

"I'm fine"

"Hey I... I didn't want to ask because really, it's none of my business but, why didn't your w-wife come with you?"

That was the one question I didn't want anyone asking.. the question I was most scared of answering.

"She had work, and you know what? Your right it is none of your business Toni" I said as I got up.

"No, no your right I'm, really sorry Cheryl"

"I think it's time Billy and I leave" I said walking towards where Billy was playing on the slide, ignoring her apology.

"Cher you don't have to go home now, I'm sorry"

"We're not going home, we're going back to our hotel"

"Wait your staying in a hotel? Why?"

I looked back at her. "There's no where else to go"

"Well, you guys can stay with me... I'm living in an apartment"

"You aren't going home?" I asked her, confused.

"I travel a lot anyway so I decided, why not stay here for awhile" she shrugged.

I looked at her unsure until she continued. "It's only a one bedroom so I will sleep on the couch and you and Bill can have the bedroom"

I was still unsure, but what was the worst that could happen anyway?

"Okay" I Whisperd.

"Really?"

"Yeah" I shyly smiled.

"Okay great um, why don't you get Billy and we can leave?"

"Yeah"

I walked over to the slide and picked him up.

"You ready to go bud?"

"Back to the hotel?" He whined.

"Actually we're going home with Toni"

"Really?!" He asked excitedly.

"Yeah, do you like Toni"

"Mhm" he smiled.

"Well we're only staying for about two days, then we need to look for our own place"

"We not going home?"

I really didn't want to tell him about me divorcing Jen. So I'm going to wait on that.

"No not at the moment buddy"

"Okay but why can't stay wit Toni?"

"Because we don't want to get in Toni's way, okay?"

"Otay mommy"

I kissed his cheek before walking to Toni's car.

Toni's pov:

"Foods here!" I called from the living room.

Cheryl and Billy came out of the bedroom with their pajamas, both coming to sit next to me on the couch.

"Yay pizza!" Billy yelled, causing me to smile.

"Hey Toni?" Cheryl whispered to me.

"What's up cher"

"I just wanted to say thank you for letting us stay here with you"

"Of course, anytime" I smiled at her. "What should we watch guys?"

"Billy loves Shrek" Cheryl smiled.

"Shrek!" Billy yelled.

"Alright then Shrek it is" I laughed.

Halfway through the movie they were both asleep, Billy's head resting on my lap and Cheryl's on my shoulder.
