[21 - Unforeseen Events]

Miley smiled, looking at everyone's expressions. "Heehee...what do you think of the results? Six will proceed to the final vote." She began to read off the names that were voted.

"Kanna Kizuchi."

"Kai Satou."

"Joe Tazuna."

"Sou Hiyori."

"Sara Chidouin."

"[Name] [Last Name]."

"H-Huh...?" [Name] gripped their desk with trembling hands. "Why...was I...?"

"Oh?" Sou looked at them with gleaming eyes, hiding a wide smirk beneath his scarf. "Did you think you were off the hook as well, [Name]? I did just talk about why you were suspicious, y'know, but it seems we didn't have enough time to go over it! So, since I assumed no one would vote for you, I voted for you anyway. I wanted to vote for Miss Sara, but...oh well. She's included anyway."

[Name] picked their head up, widened eyes staring at a smug Sou.

"He voted for me...?! Just to drag me along with them?!"

"A-Am I...safe...?" Q-Taro mumbled with wide eyes.

"Y-You're kidding?! Me too?! Woohoo!" Alice cut himself off as someone slapped the back of his head. "Ow!"

"Dumbasses!" Reko scolded. "It's the next part that's seriously bad!"

Mishima nodded grimly. "Our votes...will decide our fates."

Nao trembled. "D-Do we...have to choose...?"

"Big sis Sara...big sib [Name]..." Gin murmured, looking at the high schoolers.

Worried eyes seemed to lay on the people who were chosen for the vote. [Name] was visibly shaking at this point, quietly laughing to themselves under their breath.

"Ha...haha...this sure is a cruel joke. Getting voted...for such a stupid, fucking reason...now I have a chance of dying for sure!" They paused, frozen. "...Would it be better if I died instead of Kai—?"

"Get a grip, Sara!" Keiji suddenly yelled, shocking the group. He blinked, coughing into his fist. "...Erm, I mean. Hey now, Sara. Your friendly policeman's with ya."

Keiji continued to motivate the others and Sara to narrow it down to the final person, while [Name] just stared. Sighing, they shook their head, keeping their gaze down on the podium.

"Honestly, I thought that was for me as well. What am I even thinking? I don't play a big part in this game at all."

"I am a Commoner, after all."

The ceiling turned a dark red as fake clouds swirled around the middle.

"Heeheehee...the final 20 minutes...please use this endlessly short time effectively. I'll be praying...you don't all perish. Aheehee." She stifled a laugh from behind her hand and sat down in the chair again, starting the timer for the final vote.

"Okie-dokie. If anyone wants to confess the role on their card, let's go in order." Keiji decided, looking among the six.

"I have...nothing to say..." Kanna mumbled.

"K-Kanna..."

"I have little to say myself." Kai stated blankly. "You are free to imagine as you wish."
