JAMAL TURNER POV

Monse never came back to class so Ruby went to search for her. I would've went with him, but I have someone else that I need to talk to first.

Olivia.

Maybe I should just leave the girl alone because she's clearly all for Latrelle, but I can't let that be. Latrelle more than likely spewed some bullshit about me into her head and I don't want her thinking that I'm a bad guy because I'm anything but.

I just lost my temper, that's all. For a really good reason.

I saw Olivia searching around for someone frantically. I approached her. "Olivia!"

"Oh, Jamal! Have you seen Latrelle? He never came back to class!"

"Monse never did either," I mentioned.

"You think they were skipping together?"

"Na, Monse can't stand Latrelle."

That made Olivia snort. "What isn't there to like about Latrelle?"

"He's not who he seems to be, which is what I wanted to talk to you about." I stepped closer to her, my tone gravely serious. "Latrelle's dangerous and you shouldn't be around him."

"Really? Because last time I checked, you were the one who spazzed out on him in the middle of the hallway."

"Did you not just see Latrelle lose his shit in math class?!"

"I saw him defending a girl who clearly needed help. What's your excuse?"

Wow. See how she's defending him so hard? He definitely got into her head already.

I pinched my nose, trying to change her thoughts about me. "I'm sorry about that outburst, but I had a good reason. You see, Latrelle did something to my d-"

"What's going on here?" Latrelle interrupted as he joined us.

Of course.

Olivia crossed her arms. "Well Jamal here was just telling me about how much bad of a guy you are." She tilted her head at me. "Would you like to continue with Latrelle present this time?"

I just huffed.

"Sorry Jamal, but I like to get to know someone for myself before I make opinions about them." She looked at Latrelle and smiled. "Latrelle seems fine to me."

He smiled back. "Thank you."

Then out of nowhere, she hit him on the chest. "Now where the hell were you, Latrelle?!"

Latrelle scowled as he rubbed his chest. "Comforting a friend."

Now I spoke. "And what friend does that happen to be? Last time I checked, you have none. Coop can't stand you."
