JORDAN BAKER POV

"JORDAN, OLIVIA, HURRY UP! THEY'RE GONNA BE HERE ANY MINUTE!" Mom yelled from downstairs.

Shit. I'm not ready for this. Latrelle and his family are coming over for dinner and everything is going to be revealed. I feel queasy just thinking about it.

I examined my suit and tie in the mirror. Dad forced us to dress up for this very special occasion. Why? I don't know. To make a good first impression, I suppose.

"KIDS!"

Okay, mom's getting impatient so I left my room and ran into Olivia in the hallway. She's wearing a nice elegant dress.

"Hey. You ready for this?" I asked her.

"This wouldn't be happening if you would've just let your curiosity go!" Olivia spat before making her way downstairs.

Okay, she still hates me I see.

I followed after her and saw mom and dad waiting for us. Dad smiled at us. "Hey! You two look amazing."

"Why did we even need to dress up? This is our house," I asked.

"Because we need to leave a good first impression on Latrelle, Jordan."

"Which is why I cleaned the whole house and made you two clean your rooms," Mom added.

Olivia still doesn't understand. "But why? They're coming over to eat dinner and to explain things, and then leaving."

"Yes, but we want Latrelle to see how nice the house is for when he moves in."

"MOVES IN?!" Olivia and I shrieked.

Dad nodded. "Well that's the plan."

I'm about to faint and Olivia looks nauseous. They want to move Latrelle IN?! This is too much to handle! IT'S TOO SOON!

So I spoke my mind. "The boy doesn't even know that he's adopted and you're already talking about moving him in?! That's gonna be too much for him!"

Olivia looked over at me. "That's the only thing that I'll ever agree with you on."

I rolled my eyes.

"Look kids, we're trying to take things one step at a time so we're not even sure if we'll mention that today," Dad replied.
