Catching Feelings

Chapter 50

As soon as Raven stepped through the door, she heard laughter coming from the living room. Following the sound and found her mom sitting next to Drake with old photos laid out on the table. Raven shook her head knowing exactly what they were looking at. She took off her jacket hanging it up on the coat rack and moved further into the room getting their attention since they obviously didn't hear her come through the door.

"Hello everyone." She said while waving her hand at both of them.

Karen's face lit up turning around to see her daughter standing there. She got up from the sofa rushing over to Raven who awaited her with open arms, but instead of the hug she was expecting to receive, Karen went straight for her belly placing a hand on it as she cooed. "There's my baby!"

Raven smiled looking down at her excited mother who was still hunched over and talking to her unborn grandchild. "I'm up here mom."

She stood with her hands on her hips, "I meant you too." Karen embraced Raven in a tight hug and then took a step back to get a good look at her. It had been months since she'd seen her child and now she was about to have a child herself. "What took you so long getting here? I tried calling you."

"Yeah, and I called you twice." Drake's voice cut in interrupting their mother-daughter time. Karen got the message and left the room to give the couple some privacy.

Just seeing his face put a smile on Raven's. It was strange how one look from him could change her whole mood. When Drake bent down, she stood on her toes to meet his lips with hers. "Hey babe, my meeting with Ari ran late and I stopped to get some food." Raven purposely neglected to mention bumping into Drew. "So you're just gonna kiss me and run?" she asked watching him put on his jacket.

"You're not the only one with business to handle." He said with a smile. "French is in town so I'm about to link up with him. You cool with that?" he asked.

Raven shrugged her shoulders. They didn't really have anything planned tonight so she didn't mind. "Yeah that's cool, I'll probably catch up with Tiana later so she can tell me about her lunch date with Chubbs, and then do some girl stuff."

Drake's bushy eyebrows rose slightly tilting his head to the side. "And what is girl stuff?" he asked.

"Eating, shopping, flirting with guys, the usual," was her nonchalant reply.

Reaching for the waistband of her jeans, Drake pulled her close to him, letting his hands settle on her hips. "Yeah you know better; don't make me put hands on somebody," said Drake. He bit down on his bottom lip easing his hands down to her ass.

She shook her head. "Don't start, not in my mama's house." Raven swiftly halted his movements bringing his hands back up to wrap around her waist.

Drake grinned knowing he was going to be put on ice while Raven took this time to spend with her family. "So you think you can sneak out when your mom is sleeping? I wanna see you later." He had gotten used to having Raven lying next to him when he went to bed at night. It dawned on him that he was actually in a legit relationship.

Raven smiled at the man she loved. "That can be arranged."

"I'm not gonna be doing anything crazy, just grabbing a bite to eat so I'll call you when I'm on my way so you can sneak out the window." He joked.

"Bye boy, go have fun and bring me back something to eat." Raven laughed pushing him away. Her mom was strict. Even though Raven was grown, she wasn't allowed to have a man spend the night unless she's married to him. Although she and Drake were expecting a child together, he still wasn't her husband.

"I'll think about it." He said as he slightly tilted his head down to peck her lips. "Love you," said Drake while walking out the door.

"Love you too, be careful." Raven stood on the top step waving her goodbyes as he climbed in his awaiting ride. When the car disappeared down the road, she stepped back into the house.
