Aaron left with lots of thoughts in his mind, the tears were streaming down his face refusing to stop. The words of Lumanti and their recent conversations were on repeat inside his mind like a broken radio. He was getting frustrated, angry, annoyed at himself. Cursing against the howling wind while hitting the steering wheel with his palm. She told him to think and listen to his voice but he was unable to find it as it was deep under many noises surrounding him. The lights were flashing from the fast moving vehicle ahead and he was rushing through the traffic to reach home and find a silence that he was craving for. There were several street warnings indicating the road was slippery due to the heavy rain but he was stubbornly not heeding to the warning signs.
He was repeating, "I am listening to my voice here T, I am doing what I like."
His whole body was shaking as he was crying and sobbing through the pain. The sky was clear now unlike his mind. He played music loudly over his car stereo trying to numb all the voices and her words hurting him like a sharp needle. He sped up his car over the limit. He was drowning in pain and the words of song playing in the radio made him hurt even more. The trees were swaying back and forth by the road. The wind was howling and the noise of busy traffic was deafening. He took another turn and put the accelerator on full speed and rushed his car. Before he realized what happened, a shining light from the truck brightened his surrounding and hit his car from the side leading it to somersault on the road.
Aaron's face could be seen from the upside-down car but he was not moving at all. The road was soon filled with his blood and he was now lying on the floor gasping for breath while calling her name. She stared at him in utter confusion unable to move but just stare at his lying body, unable to help. She just stood by the road in white dress with stains of red while sirens wailed in the background. He stared at her with his empty brown eyes begging for her help. She just stared at him, helplessly. She wanted to help him and run towards him but her feet was stuck to the ground unable to move and soon the noise of sirens were replaced by the sharp ringing of her phone, buzzing in her ear like an annoying bee.
Lumanti gasped and breathed heavily as she came back to her reality. Her forehead was filled with beads of sweat. Her phone was ringing beside her; Rianne was calling her. She then came to terms of where she was. She was on her couch inside her apartment. She turned her attention towards ringing phone, still not being able to identify what is real and what is not. She didn't pick up the call but not wanting to worry her she texted instead, Hey babe, sorry, I am sleeping now. Can I call you tomorrow? Don't worry, I am fine.
Then she frantically dialed Aaron's number. The phone was ringing but he didn't pick up the call. She was getting extremely worried about his well being. Even if it was just a dream, she wanted to know for sure that he was alright. She kept on calling him and crying uncontrollably when he didn't pick up the call one last time.
She got up from the couch and moved towards kitchen to get some water. She even checked every possible website if there has been any accident. To her relief, there had been minor mishaps on the road but none of them were on the way to his home. Still her heart was beating faster and she was panting thinking of consequences. She wanted to call Rianne and tell her everything but she didn't want to worry her.
She unlocked her phone to check Rianne's reply but she realised that there was another unread message in her inbox received when she was sleeping. In the rush of panic, she didn't realise to check her messages first thing. She hurriedly checked her unread messafe from Aaron: Hey, I just reached home. Take care.
Her heart was lightened all of a sudden but still she wanted to hear his voice to know for sure. She thought that he might have slept thats why he didn't pick up the call but she still dialled his number with the hope to hear his voice. This time the phone was picked but it was not him at the other end.
"Hi Lumanti, it's Meekha," Her voice was calm but strained. Lumanti's recently calmed nerve was back at being anxious.
