She smiled all the way on her way back to her place while listening to songs playing on radio. When she reached home with her hand fulls of fresh produce, she was startled by Ri, who was already there and giving her questioning look. Lumanti and Ri gave each other spare key of each of theirs place when they decided to live on their own separate place.
"Hey Ri, what are you doing here?", she said with surprise in her voice.
"Well, I was on the way to my place and thought to check on you. Where have you been?"
"To the farmer's market."
"Oh wow, what you got, why didn't you call me?"
"I thought you had plans with Sara," she replied while putting all the items, her bag and her phone on the counter, "but I have got your favorites. Check them out. I will just freshen up."
"Cool. Aww you got my favorite jam." Ri chimed while Lumanti went inside her room to change.
When she came back from her room to the kitchen, Ri had already put all the stuff in the cabinet and to the fridge. Ri was now at the balcony with her back towards the room. Lumanti went towards the balcony saying, "Thank you hun for putting things, but you know you don't have to do that."
"Who did you go to farm with?" Ri asked.
Lumanti was caught off guard by her question and stumbled to answer her question, "umm ok please don't get mad. I know you told me not to meet him."
"So you went with him and also got yourself a date with him?"
"I know, I know you told me it is not a good idea to see him right now but he was texting me and I got really curious. Wait how do you about the date?"
"So you think that he is being honest here?"
"I don't know Ri but I think I should give him another chance, you know, start with clean slate."
"And what does he have to say about that night?"
She told her everything about what happened today and what he had told her so far.
"So what is the guarantee of future here now. Why was he not willing to fight last time and why is he now?"
"Well, he just wants to start off as friends for as long as I want. I know its stupid but I don't remember anyways so how bad can it get?"
"All I know is, you have already let him go once and now that he is no longer part of your memories, I am just worried for you that bringing him back into your life might just end you up with another heartbreak. Maybe you wont remember your past with him ever but there is a chance that history might repeat itself and you both might end up hurting each other or circumstances might tear you guys apart. What if you fall in love with him and there is no future?"
"And all I want to have right now is be close somehow to the past that I have let go. I just want to see how it goes. If it hurts then let it. I want to feel it. I want a closure or beginning, whatever it is that has been nagging me so much. If it doesn't work out then I will at least have a reason or remember what went wrong this time. At least there will be closure for both of us."
Both of them remained silent for a while. Ri broke the silence again by saying, "Listen, I get it you want to give it a chance. Probably your heart still chooses him. So, I wont stop you and can't stop as well so go ahead, meet him but prepare yourself emotionally as well. If anything goes wrong, I will always be here to help you through it."
Both of their eyes were full of tears waiting to escape from their eyes. Lumanti was touched by her friends word and said, "Thank you so much Ri. It means a lot to me. I love you so much."
