It was all good until...

EBONY

Lily looked at her mom who had her head laying on my shoulder snoozing away soundly. Lily's facial expression went from worry to disgust. I looked at her dead in her eyes and smirked. Her face became red. Mason had already caught on with what was happening. He spoke with authority. "Lily stop." She huffed and went to sit at the farthest chair from me. She didn't even check on her mom. Ungrateful bitch. The rest of Mason's siblings Micheal, Jake, and Kevin come over and ask to see their Dad. Mason leaves with them, which leaves His sleeping mom and fuming sister with me. Great.

MASON

When we enter the hospital room a shiver runs up my spine. My Dad is still not awake. He looks paler and his lips are tinted blue. Please don't die. My brothers go over to him and each of them bends their heads and kisses him on the forehead. He doesn't move. My heart is pounding fiercely. I never thought I would feel this hopeless over my old man. He and I were never close before. He never understood me. But right now I would give so much just for him to live. Micheal, Kevin, and Jake walk back outside. A second later Ebony walks in.

"Hey, babe." Her voice was laced with pity. She came over to me and stood by my side. She was quiet for a while. " So everyone in your family is nice except for Lily?" She looked at me, waiting for my answer. I took my time to form an answer. " So my parents-well my mom, is- well at least she used to be prejudice against Black people but it seems she's getting attached to you. If this were any other situation she would have greeted you the way Lily did. I'm sorry for how Lily is acting. Please forgive her." Ebony nodes her head at me. " Don't worry. It's all good."

"I think your mom is in some kind of shock," Ebony told me. She looked on towards my dad. She went towards him and grasped his hand. Ebony gasped when my dad's fingers twitched. The monitor started to beat frantically. I rushed to get to the doctor. This time I wasn't only scared, I also had hope. The doctor told us to wait outside as they checked upon him. My mom's head was laying on lily's shoulder. However, she switched onto Ebony's shoulder when she sat down.

Lily looked hurt by that action. I suppressed the laugh that was bubbling in my chest.

"Hey, mom? How long have you been here?" I asked Mason's mom. She had to think about it. " I was here since Yesterday morning. " she spoke quietly. " would you like me to take you home? I asked her kindly. She smiled and nodded. Before we could get up the doctors come outside to us. They were both men. One was shorter than the other but their pale complexions were similar. The tallest of them came forward. They looked neutral so you couldn't tell right off the bat if all was well or not.

"The patient is stable and is expected to be discharged in two days, however, if he doesn't mind his pressure and activities he will end up in this particular problem if not worse. You may all see him now he is awake. Everyone got up and towed themselves into the room. The siblings went right ahead and gave their father a big hug. Followed by his wife who wept on his shoulder. It was all adorable. Until he noticed me. His happy eyes became sour instantly.

Mason's Dad Spanish: ¿Quién es Este negro?//who is this nigger?

He sounds angry. Mom gasps loudly at the disgusting comment he made.

Mason's Mom Spanish: ¿Qué diablos Jason? Ella es una chica amable que me abrazó cuando estaba solo!//What the hell Jason?She is a kind girl she held me when I was lonely!

The monitor speeds up because he's angry. The doctors who are right outside the door come inside quickly telling him to calm down. I take that time to slip out. I get mad when I think of what that old ass raisin called me but I take a deep breath and calm down my beating heart. I came with Mason so it's either I take a cab or wait for them. Before I can make a decision I hear Mason yelling for me to stop. I wasn't even going anywhere. " Hey, Ebi! Please don't go!" Mason's long legs make it easy for him to take quick, wide stores that get him next to me quickly.

When he gets closer to me he doesn't say anything. He grabs my waist and leans down, planting his soft lips over my own. The kiss is slow and sensual. Flashes of last night flood my mind. Mason smiles against my lips. Already sensing what I was thinking about. He pulled away from my lips. He chuckled when I playfully frowned at him for stopping the kiss. He held my hand and led me to the car turns out Kevin had brought his car and that was the one everyone else was going to leave in. Once I sat in the car my phone started ringing.

I didn't know the number so I ignored it. It stopped ringing but then a few seconds later it started to ring again. It was the same. number. I signed and picked. It up. " Ebony?" A chilling breath ran down my spine. Jensy. I didn't know what to do. Should I hang up? I don't know what to say. I looked at Mason. His face looked weary. " Ebi? Please. I know you can hear me! I'm sorry, please-" Mason had snatched my phone and ended the call. I looked at him surprised. " She tried to take you from me. She tried to kill you. All because she was jealous. Ebony, I don't think you know the real Jensey.

And with that Mason turned on the ignition and drove out of the parking lot. I sat in my seat quietly. I don't think I know the real Jensy either.
