To the hospital

EBONY

I open my eyes when the strong aroma of coffee drifts to my nose. I look over to see that Mason is gone. I get up and stretch. I get my bathrobe and head to my bathroom. I prepared my bathtub and brushed my teeth while the water filled up.

After I was done showering I put on some lotion and threw on some sweats and a hoodie. I bound down the stairs. I couldn't suppress my smile when I saw Mason, his muscled back facing me. The smell of fried eggs made its way into my nose. I sighed contently. He didn't turn around. I walked towards him and slid my arms around his waist, feeling his taut abs. He turned around and smiled at me. He planted a chaste kiss on my forehead. 

He motioned for me to sit down and he proceeded to fill my plate with eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. Wow. He did the same for himself and sat across from me. "Thank you so much for this breakfast!" He shook his head as if to say no problem. He finished chewing. " I have to head into the office today. I'm giving you the day off unless you want to come with me?" He was asking. I thought about the day without Mason. Boring. " I'll come with you but don't expect me to do much." He smirked at me.

MASON

I glanced at Ebony as she looked out the window of my car. Her glossy box braids glistened in the sun along with her beautiful dark skin. My heartbeat accelerated. I made a stop at my house to change and then we were right on our way. I parked the car when we reached the building and entered. As always Macy was at the front desk. She smiled at me and waved excitedly at Ebony. She went over to her and gave her a hug. I held the elevator door for her. She entered a few seconds later. All the way to the ninth floor. Once the doors closed Ebony jumped me plastering kisses all over my face and neck.

She jumped into my arms. I held her tightly against me. Her legs wrapped around my waist. Thoughts of last night flashed into my mind. I felt my member start to swell. We were caught off guard when the elevator dinged and opened luckily no one was there. I dropped Ebony to her feet and we headed to my office. Ebony sat on the sofa and I went to my desk. My desk was overflowing with papers. I sat down and got to work. Around thirty minutes later I heard a knock at the door. I looked up. Ebony got up to open the door.

And when she did I saw that it was the most last person I ever expected to see at my fucking job. Mom. She pushed past Ebony and came to my desk hurriedly. I was about to ask her to live when I saw that Mascara was streaked down her face, her clothing was rumpled and her hair was messy. Not like my mother at all. I sighed.

Mason Spanish: Mamá, ¿qué pasa? ¿Qué estás haciendo aquí?//Mom, what's wrong? What are you doing here?

I faltered when she started to cry and reach over my desk for my hands. Ebony still stood at the door. Confusion etched on her face.

Mom Spanish: ¡Es tu padre! Él estaba teniendo un ataque cardíaco y yo no estaba allí, no me di cuenta lo suficientemente rápido y luego llegamos al hospital y dijeron que él también estaba sufriendo un paro cardíaco. Bebé, tengo miedo de que no se esté moviendo, por favor te necesito.//It's your father! He was having a heart attack and I wasn't there I, didn't notice fast enough and then we got to the hospital and they said he was also going into a cardiac arrest. Baby, I'm scared he wasn't moving, please I need you.

She came to me her arms open. I let her. She took my hand and told me that we had to go back to the hospital quickly because we would never know when we would see him again. Ebony followed after us her face was now clouded with worry. 

EBONY

What? His father was dying? Coming to think about it he never really spoke about his parents. I hurriedly followed behind them. His mother looked tired and miserable. The car ride to the hospital was filled with his mom wracking up throaty sobs. My own eyes teared up. I tried to comfort her. "Please... mom don't cry." She turned and looked at me confused, but then she nodded her head at me. She wiped up her tears and took a deep breath. When we reached the hospital Mason ripped his door open and ran out of the car.

His mom started sobbing again. I got out of the car and went to open the door for her. She still sat as if all the energy had drained out of her. I slowly reached my hand over to her. She looked at it and then at my face for a second before she reached and held my hand. I pulled her out of the car and pulled out the key before I closed the side door. I walked her calmly into the hospital. She led the way, but when we reach the door the nurse says "family only". The nurse was looking at me.

His mom looks at me and then tells the nurse that it was okay. I was helping her. " Mami I can't go in the room again my heart hurts every time I look at him. He looks...dead." She starts to sob again. I hold her close to me even though I don't know this lady. Even though today was the first time I had ever laid eyes on her. I looked at the difference between her freckled pale skin and my dark shiny ones. She looked at me and then she grasped my hands in hers. She looked me deep in my eyes. "You know Mami I never interact with people like you I always assume you all are horrible...I guess not." She spoke earnestly. 

She laid her head down on my shoulder and a few minutes later I heard low snoring. She was so sure of me, a stranger, she was able to fall asleep on me. Adorable.

Around 10 minutes Mason comes out of the room. He doesn't look sad but not too happy either. His footsteps faltered when he saw his mom sleeping on my shoulder. He came next to me and sat down. "Listen Ebony I'm sorry I never spoke to you about my parents." He looked sincere. " You don't have to tell me about your parents, have I told you of mine?" I asked him. He shook his head. I took his face in my hand and kissed him chastely. We broke out of our trans when 4 people walked into the waiting room. All of them looked worried. Masons Siblings. I looked on. Ugh, his bitch sister.
