We arrive back in the cortex, after I win our race again much to Aaron’s complaint, and see it void of team flash.
“I’m going to see if Cisco’s in his lab,” I inform Aaron.
I walk down the hallway and enter Cisco’s lab to see him working on some sort of new device of his.
“What’s that?” I ask him, walking up next to him and squinting through the magnifying glass to see what he is making.
“I call it the Dark Matter neutraliser,” he explains. I look at him strangely.
“Don’t worry, I’ll come up with a better name later. Any way, all you have to do is shoot it at him and then it will neutralise all dark matter in a proximity of 20 meters,” he explains.
“What about us?” I ask him. If we shoot it we’ll also be powerless.
“Barry will speed you and him away before it can affect you guys,” Cisco tells me. I nod.
“And then we’ll put this meta in the pipeline?” I ask Cisco. He looks at me in confusion.
“Barry will just take him to the metahuman wing in Iron Heights. Only the most powerful and dangerous metahumans go in the pipeline,” Cisco tells me. I groan inside. This is going to make our job ten times harder. Breaking someone out of the metahuman wing in Iron Heights will be a lot more difficult. They have power dampeners everywhere... Unless we get him before he makes it to Iron Heights.
“Hey Lexi? Were you listening to me?” Cisco asks, waving his hand in front of my face.
“Oh, yeah. I was just thinking about something. I’ll leave you to your work now,” I brush him off. I turn around and speed out of the room. I go back to the cortex where Aaron is sitting by the computers.
“ Cisco is making a weapon to stop the meta that can control dark matter but says they will take him straight to Iron Heights,” I explain to him, sitting down on the edge of the table next to him.
“So what are we going to do?” Aaron asks. He looks at my face and swallows hard.
“I know that look, you want to get to him before he can make it there, don’t you?” He asks, saying what I was thinking. I grin.
“Sometimes it’s like you can read my mind,” I tell him. He grins.
“Nope, just your face. Sometimes it’s like an open window, you would be terrible in poker,” he says. I laugh. His face goes serious again.
“But seriously, it’ll never work,” he tells me.
“Why not? We could attack the transport truck, get him and take him straight to Black Hole.”
He shakes his head.
“It’s too dangerous…” he starts but is interrupted as Barry and Iris walk into the cortex.
“What’s too dangerous?” Barry asks. Aaron and I look at each other.
“Aaron thinks it’s too dangerous for me to take down this new meta with you,” I quickly cover.
“His name is Daniel Carter, he’s 22 years old. For the past few years he’s been pretty off grid but eye witnesses say that they saw him walking down the street right as Barry came out of the speed force. He must have gotten his powers then. For the past few weeks he has been spotted robbing small convenience stores at the edge of Central City,” Iris explains, putting down a stack of reports down next to me. I flip through them a bit.
“Guys, it’s done!” Cisco exclaims as he walks into the cortex. Holding the machine he was working on earlier up in the air above his head.
“What is that?” Barry asks as Dylan, Kyra and Jax enter the cortex to see what is going on.
“It is the dark matter neutraliser. All you haven’t I do is point it at Daniel and boom, no more powers,” Cisco explains. Barry grabs it from him.
“Cool. Lexi, you ready?” He asks me. I jump off the table and nod my head when Caitlin walks into the cortex and interrupts me.
“Lexi, I think you should just leave this one to Barry,” she tells me. Barry furrows his eyebrows in confusion.
“Why?” He asks. Everyone else looks equally confused. I clear my throat.
“Caitlin, can I talk to you in the med bag?” I ask her before grabbing her arm and speeding her into the med bay before she can reply. I close the door behind me.
“Why can’t I go?” I demand. She sighs.
“Lexi, with you no longer taking your medicine there is a very big chance you could get a seizure or a heart attack or even a transient ischemic attack out there, it’s not safe,” she argues. I scoff.
“Transient ischemic attack. A mini stroke, really?” I ask her. She nods.
“It is a possibility. Look, I won’t stop you from going out there, I’m just telling you the possibilities of what could happen,” she says. I sigh.
“Look Caitlin, I know you have my best interests at heart but I really have to go on this mission, sorry.” With that I turn around and speed back to the cortex.
“Ok, lets go,” I tell Barry. Cisco puts his hands in the air.
“Stop, wait. Lexi, I need to give you something first. Come to my workshop,” Cisco tells me before running off. I give him a head start before speeding past him and into his workshop.
“What is it?” I ask him when he finally gets here. He walks over to the corner of the room where there is a big sheet covering something.
“I present to you...your superhero suit,” he says dramatically, pulling off the sheet. I gasp. On the mannequin is the most beautiful suit I have ever seen. It consists of a dark emerald green, leather jacket with gold zippers and black leather tights. The boots are ankle length and the same colour as the jacket with gold zippers on the sides. I even have a matching dark emerald eye mask with gold etchings trailing along the edges. I run my fingers over it.
“It’s beautiful, thank you so much Cisco," I thank him, pulling him into a tight hug.
"Oh, and one other thing. I was thinking your superhero name should be the, Emerald Exemplar, cause, you know, exemplar means worthy of being copied. And it has alteration. Or it could be the, Emerald Savior," he says, going off track, deep in thought. I swallow hard. I deserve none of those names.
" You have to go now. Meta, Daniel, remember?" he says, snapping out of his thoughts. I quickly grab the outfit and run out of the room to get changed into it in the hallway. Technically I'm going so fast he can't see me but I still won't change in front of him. I leave on my t-shirt underneath the jacket but take off my shorts and put on the black leather tights instead. As I run into the cortex, I'm surprised at how flexible the leather is. It must have been specifically designed by Cisco to work with my speed ability.
"Alright, now we can go," I say as I arrive in the cortex. Everyone stares at me.
"What?" I ask, confused.
"That is a really cool suit," Aaron says.
I grin.
"You can give all the credit to Cisco," I tell them. Suddenly the metahuman alert goes off and Cisco rushes into the room and over to the computers.
"Daniel was just spotted in the city center by facial recognition," Cisco informs us. Barry looks at me.
"You ready?" he asks for the second time today. I put on my mask and nod. He speeds out of the room and into his suit. I run after him.Trailing behind him we finally reach the city center where Daniel is standing.
"Lexi, you need to evacuate all the civilians," Barry tells me. I nod and quickly speed the civilians a good distance away one by one till they're all gone. I speed back to Barry's side.
"Decided to bring backup this time, Flash?" Daniel asks. Barry shakes his head and grins.
"Nope, she just wanted to practice with an easy target so I let her come with," Barry says.
"ohh, burn," Cisco says over the coms that I forgot I had. Daniel grins.
"So what are you standing there for, come and fight me," Daniel says tauntingly, holding out his arms next to him.
"Barry, the neutraliser," I whisper to him.
"Don't worry Lexi, we got this," he says casually. He pulls out the neutraliser and fired it at Daniel, causing him to fly backwards through the air. He quickly gets out and holds his hands in front of himself but nothing comes out.
"What did you do to me?" Daniel exclaims in horror. Barry grins.
"Just a little something to neutralise your powers," he tells him. He tries to run forward but stops suddenly.
"Lexi, my speed isn't working," Barry whispers to me. I nearly facepalm. We were supposed to run away before we lost our powers too.
"Cisco, how long is this supposed to last?" I ask into the coms.
"About half an hour?" he says unsurely. I huff. Great.
I hear a loud noise behind myself and turn around to see a truck flying towards me. I put up my arms and some weird blue shield forms around me like a protective bubble. The truck smashes into it and literally explodes. Then, the shield thingy goes away. What was that? I feel something dripping down my face and bring up my hand to find my nose bleeding. Without any time to think I find myself speeding in the direction the truck came from. There stands Max. Daniel must've brought him with to stay a few blocks down for some backup if needed. I speed punch him in the face and he falls to the ground, unconscious. I grab him and Daniel and put some meta cuffs on them both that I brought with for just in case before speeding back over to Barry.
"How did you do that?" he asks with wide eyes.(1853 words)
Yay. It's a relatively long chapter and on my birthday plus earlier than I said it would be. Hope you liked it. Why do you think she was able to do this? I literally thought of what should happen in this chapter and future chapters because of a dream. Yup, I dream about my story, weird, I know but it does give me some pretty schway ideas.
Also can u just say... Yay! This story is #1 in black hole. I mean technically the other stories in black hole are literal black holes but still, this is #1. And it's my birthday!!!!Please be sure to comment any ideas or review, share and hopefully vote (by pressing the tiny star in the corner of the screen).
Until next chapter. Byeeeeee. :)
