Cisco's original plan is for me to use my powers until I either get a seizure or nothing happens after half an hour. Then, Caitlin simply suggests we do a blood test to see if the cellular degeneration is slowing down compared to my last blood sample. Even though her method involves a needle, it is better than the possibility of a seizure.
Caitlin gets ready, another needle for the blood test. She brings it up to my arm and I look away again. They always say it hurts less if you don't look, I can't decide if that's true or not though. I feel a slight prick and she announces that she's done. That hurt a lot less than the medicine did. Then again, I'm sure any needle is less painful than that medicine was. She goes off to analyse it, leaving Aaron, Cisco and I.
"So, have you gotten any new leads on Black Hole?" I ask Cisco. He shakes his head.
"No new metas have disappeared that we know of and nobody has spotted one of their operatives since Daniel Carter," he explains. I nod. We sit in silence for only about 2 minutes before Caitlin walks back in.
“So, is it working?” I ask her in anticipation. She nods slowly.
“It isn’t working as fast as we want it to but it doesn’t appear to just be stalling it like your previous medication,” she explains. I nod.
“How often will I have to take it?” I ask her.
“By the results, I’d say about as often as your previous medicine. Once every 24 hours or so,” she says. After 5 minutes or so, Aaron suggests we go get some drinks from Jitters.
We sit down at our usual table after ordering some pies and hot chocolates.
“I found something new in your parents,” Aaron tells me suddenly.
“What?” I ask him.
“Facial recognition picked them up just outside Central City at a small hotel,” he says. I think about it for a second. Should we go after them?
“Should we go after them?” He asks, saying exactly what I was thinking.
“I don’t know, there’s so much going on right now with trying to find Black Hole I’d feel bad just leaving,” I tell him. He shrugs.
“We’d only be gone for a day or two. I doubt much would happen,” he says. He does have a point.
“I think we should ask the others first,” I tell him after much thought. He nods. I really do want to find my parents, I just don’t know if right now is the right time.We finish our pies and hot chocolates before heading back to S.T.A.R Labs. We enter the cortex to find it empty.
“I’ll quickly check the security cameras,” I tell Aaron as I walk over to the computers, too lazy to go through every room looking for them. I type in a few things and the camera footage pops up, revealing them all in the speedlab.
Aaron and I head down to the speedlab.
“ What are you guys doing?” Aaron asks as we walk in. Barry is running labs while it appears Allegra is trying to hit him with her UV blasts.
“We’re busy training Allegra,” Cisco says, answering Aaron’s question.
"Why? I didn't know she wanted to become a superhero," I ask.
"Barry asked her actually. With Black Hole and not many people with powers to help, she'll be a great addition to the team," Cisco says.
"What about Chester?" Aaron asks suddenly. I furrow my eyebrows.
"Who's Chester?" I ask nobody in particular.
"He can create black holes," Aaron explains. That's a really cool power.
"Barry doesn't think he's ready yet," Cisco says. We all turn our heads as a loud bang resonates through the speed lab. I see Barry lying on the ground by the wall and about to go over to help him up but he stands up.
"I'm OK!" he calls to us from across the room.
"Sorry," Allegra calls to him. She must have thrown him across the room with one of her blasts.
"Wow, she is pretty powerful," I remark. Cisco nods.
"Are you OK?" Nash exclaims as he runs into the room, immediately going to Allegra's side.
"I heard a loud bang," Nash explains. She brushes him off coldly.
"I'm fine Nash. I'm taking a water break now," she announces before she walks out of the room, Nash following closely behind.
"What's up with those two?" I ask.
"On Nash's earth, Allegra's doppelganger was basically his daughter but after an accident she died," Cisco explains. I feel so sorry for Nash, having to look at Allegra every day and seeing his dead daughter.
"Wait, so why did you guys come in here?" Barry asks as he speeds over next to us. Oh, that's right.
"Umm, Aaron and I were wondering if we could leave town for a day or two?" I ask Barry and Cisco.
"Where do you want to go?" Barry asks curiously.
"Just out of Central City. The rims of Keystone almost," Aaron replies.
"Why?" Cisco immediately asks. Aaron's and I share a look.
"We're following up on a lead for something but we can't tell you what yet," I vaguely explain. Barry shrugs.
"Sure, why not. Only for a day or two, right?" he asks. Aaron and I both nod.
"Will you need a place to stay?" Barry asks.
"Probably?" Aaron answers.
"Cisco, can you book them a place. When are you leaving?" Barry asks. I shrug.
"Tomorrow morning?" I say. Barry nods. Cisco sighs.
"I'll go book a place," he says before leaving the speed lab. Aaron and I share a look. This time tomorrow, I might finally meet my parents and get some answers.(1061 words)
