Beep… Beep… Beep… I wake to the constant beeping of some sort of machine. I groan and slowly open my eyes before squeezing then shut again at the bright light. I hear footsteps s someone enters the room and rushes over to my side.

"Lexi, how are you feeling?" I hear Caitlin ask me. I attempt to open my eyes again and find myself in the S.T.A.R Labs med bay.

"Everything…hurts," I manage to gasp out. My body feels like it is on fire. Caitlin grabs a syringe from the table and injects it into my IV bag.

"Just some pain killers," she explains to me. My pain starts to fade and, with the help of Caitlin, I'm able to sit up in the bed.

"How long was I out for?" I ask her.
"12 days," she answers hesitantly. I gasp. 12 days!

"Where are the others?" I ask her, not seeing them anywhere.

"We thought it would be better when you woke up not to be overwhelmed by everyone," she explains. I nod. I feel my eyes start to get droopy and I struggle to keep them open.

"It's OK, you can go to sleep," Caitlin reassures me. Without further thought, I slip into oblivion.

The next time I wake, all of the wires and needles attached to me have been removed. I slowly open my eyes and see Barry asleep on the chair next to me. I slowly sit up in bed, trying not to disturb him but he wakes up with a start.

"Lexi, you're awake!" he exclaims, embracing me in a hug. I gasp for air and my chest where he stabbed me starts to hurt again.

"Barry," I gasp out and he immediately jumps away from me.

"I'm so sorry, I completely forgot. It's just with it being my fault you had to be in here for two weeks…" He trails off. I smile.

"It's fine, I'll be healed in no time," I tell him. I gasp as I register what he said.

"Wait, two weeks?" I exclaim. He nods.

"Yeah, you woke up briefly two days ago but only for a few moments," he explains.

"I need to see Aaron now," I demand. He furrows his brow in confusion.

"Why?" he asks.

"Barry, now." he speeds out of the room and returns with Aaron before speeding out of the room to give us some privacy.

"Lexi, I'm so happy you're awake. I was so worried!" he exclaims. I smile at him.

"I feel fine."

I look around the room to make sure there are no security cameras before leaning closer to him.

"Did you tell Black Hole?" I whisper to him. He nods.

"I've been giving them updates everyday still without you but I did also explain your condition," he tells me. I nod. That's good. It's a good thing he remembered to go otherwise all that would be left of us would literally be bits on the walls, I shudder at the thought.

There's a knock on the door and we both look over to see Cisco, Caitlin and Barry standing there.
"Hey guys, can we come in?" Barry asks. I look over at Aaron who shrugs.
"Sure, why not," I tell them. They quickly pile into the room.
"I'm so sorry Lexi, if I had trusted you more I would have realised you were in danger and been able to…" he starts rambling but I interrupt him.
"Cisco, it's not your fault. I wasn't honest with you guys so you struggled to trust me, I totally understand," I reassure him.
"So, did you at least catch Laura?" I ask, changing the subject away from me. Cisco grins.
"Yeah, once Jax fried her powers Barry sonic punched her and I breached her straight into the pipeline," Cisco says. I grin.
"Too bad I was out cold, sounds like it was pretty epic," I say with a grin. I turn my attention to Caitlin.
"So, when can I get out of bed?" I ask her enthusiastically.
"You should be good to go already. With your speed healing it should only ache a bit for a few more days and should fade into a small scar in a few weeks," she says with a smile. I grin.
"That's great, I can't wait to get back onto the field." She gives me a look.
"It'll be awhile before you're ready to go onto the field again," she warns me. I grin.
"That's fine, as long as I can get out of this bed before I die of boredom…" I
I trail off as I see Jax, Dylan and Kyra standing in the doorway. Barry follows my line of sight.
"Hey Cisco, Caitlin, I need some help in the speed lab," he tells them, herding them out of the room. Caitlin gets what is going on and follows him while Cisco looks confused.
"Why do you need help in the…?" His voice fades down the hallway.

"Look, I know that ever since Max showed up we have all been really distant and it just didn't feel right. We're all best friends, we shouldn't avoid each other over something so small," Dylan says. I smile warmly.
"Yeah, it didn't feel right being all divided like that," I agree. We all share a group hug which sounds pretty cheesy but I really needed it.
"Um, hey guys, I think I'm going to go for a walk, you know, stretch my legs a bit," I tell them, getting out of the bed.
"Should one of us go with you?" Aaron asks. I shake my head.
"I'm fine," I tell him. I walk over to a chair and pull on my favourite S.T.A.R Labs sweater. I know they are all exactly the same but this is still my favourite. I put on a pair of sneakers before walking out of the room and into the elevator. I press the button and wait patiently till the elevator tings. I step out and start walking towards the park. I always feel like I can just clear all thoughts and worries from my head there. I walk for about 30 minutes before sitting down on a park bench.

A sudden wave of dizziness pours over me and I blink a few times till it clears. That was weird. I feel something warm running down my face and bring my hand to my nose to find it bleeding. That's extra weird. This also happened right after Aaron and I got back from Black Hole. I quickly wipe away the blood with a handkerchief I happened to have in my pocket before starting to walk back to S.T.A.R Labs.

Should I tell Caitlin? It could be something bad and I know better to keep a secret like this from my doctor and friends. I know I am keeping working for Black Hole undercover a secret but that's different, this is something medical.

I finally make it back to the cortex and quickly locate Caitlin in the med bay.
"Hey Caitlin, can you run a blood test on me?" I ask her. She stops what she was doing and turns to me, a look of confusion on her face.
"Why? You seem to be healing fine and there aren't any signs of infection," she says.
"Caitlin, please?" I plead.
"OK, let me just grab my stuff," she tells me. She walks over to one of the cabinets and pulls out a blood collecting kit.
"Just sit down on the bed and pull up your sleeve," she instructs me. I quickly obey and she walks over to me with the needle, quickly inserting it into my arm and drawing a small vial of blood. When she is done, she hands me a cotton ball which I press against the entry point of the needle which is already starting to heal.
She gets out a microscope from the cupboard and places a few drops of my blood on a disk before putting it into the microscope. She frowns.
"That's weird," she mumbles to herself. I wonder what she is talking about before remembering the nano bombs. Whoops.
"What is it?" I ask her nervously. She looks up at me.
"While I would like to focus on the nano bombs in your blood there is something else," she starts, "This is a scan of our cells when you first arrived." on the screen she pulls up a picture of my cells.
"Remember when I told you that you had a few months to live?" she asks. I nod.
"Yeah but while I was at the Black Hole they gave me medicine which is stopping that," I tell her. She nods.
"Yeah, the others explained that while you were out. But here's a picture of your cells now. " she pulls up another picture. I squint at the two in comparison.
"What's different?" I ask her.
"Before your cells were slowly degenerating. With a normal person, every second about a million of your cells die and a million more are made but with you the cells are slowly dying and not regenerating. You thought the medicine was helping but all it was doing was taking away your symptoms while speeding up the process," she explains. My eyes widen.
"How long do I have?" I say in a soft tone numbly. She hesitates slightly.
"A few weeks from what I can tell, maybe a month. And I think it's for the best if you stop taking the medicine. Your seizures and other symptoms will come back but it will slow down the process slightly," she tells me. I nod numbly.
"Can we keep this between us for now?" I plead with big eyes.
"Lexi, they deserve to know," she tells me. I shake my head.
"With everything going on right now I think it would be best to tell them later," I tell her. She nods.
"OK, but just for now. You have to tell them eventually." with that, she gives me a pat on the leg before leaving the room. I slowly stand up.
When the time is right, Aaron and I should tell them our secret with Black Hole too.
