draco and i both freeze.

i can hear his breathing picking up as he slowly pulls away from me.

"hide." he whispers, so quietly i can barely make out what he said. even then- i got the message and moved across room, hiding beside a large dresser.

his footsteps cautiously move towards the door and in one small gesture of his hand the door flies open. it's quiet for a second. the only thing i could hear was my thumping heart beating within my ears.

"i know she's in here draco." a frail woman's voice says. i think i recognize her voice.

i gulp, my eyes go wide as i lean against the tall oak dresser.

"who?" draco asks, like he has no idea who the woman is talking about. but i know he knows exactly what she means.

i hear her sigh, "the girl, where is the girl?"

"i don't know-"

"i won't hurt her."

i press my lips into a line, squeezing my eyes shut.

please don't tell her.

"i need her. quickly draco." the oddly familiar woman's voice says urgently.

"i don't-"

i hear footsteps again, this time they aren't draco's. they are heels, walking into the room. each step she takes, is a step closer to where i am hiding.

my eyes are still closed when i feel a feeble hand touch my arm.

i flinch and my eyes shoot open, staring at a woman. i soon realize who she is. i remember her.

she turns to me, "and you must be draco's friend, nice to meet you." she extends her hand to me and i gladly shake it smiling.

its his mother.

"hello," she says removing her cold hand from my arm, "you need to come with me."

"but i-"

"come along now." she says, and i look into her lifeless eyes. pleading for her to leave me be.

"come." she whispers again.

i nod shakily and walk with her quietly towards the door. but before we exit the room draco grabs my arm, pulling me back.

"she's not going." he states, his grip on me getting tighter.

"it's better if you just let her go draco." she says with a hushed tone.

"i can't-"

"draco." i whisper, looking into his worry filled eyes, "it'll be alright."

his eyebrows lower and his grip gets slightly looser. i take that chance to slowly move out of his grasp. stumbling towards his mother reluctantly.

his mother glances at me once before walking out of the room. i turn my head back to draco before leaving to see his face one more time before leaving.

his lips are parted, hands to his sides- like they are limb. his eyes that were long ago filled with such joy, are now filled with something much darker.

i smile faintly before walking away with his mother.

it took everything inside of me to leave him again. but i knew no good would come out of declining his mother. she'd probably get someone else to get me- someone more threatening. so i left with her. i still have no clue where we are going.
