today was the first day back at hogwarts. pansy and i stood at the platform waiting on draco and blaise to show. after of couple of minutes i see blaise running up to us with draco following behind.
"y/n!" blaise yells, hugging me tightly, his arms around my waist and his head lowered down by my neck.
blaise has gotten much taller, his face more defined and his smile even brighter to see me.
i pull away, "hello blaise, lovey to see you again." i say happily.
"lovely to see you too y/n." i smile and look over to pansy hugging draco, he looks over to me.
"hello y/n." draco says breaking away from pansy's hug. and walking over to me.
"draco." i say smiling. we stare at each other for a moment before i notice kids flooding into the train.
we head in and walk to our compartment, taking our seats. i sit directly across from draco, pansy sits next him and blaise beside me. the usual seating arrangement.
as we are sitting there, pansy talking away about her summer and how great it was, i saw ron by the trolley.
"im going to get some food from the trolley, do any of you want anything?" i say and they all shake their heads no, as pansy returns to telling them about her summer.
i walk out of the compartment, shutting the door behind me and make my way to the trolley. ron is standing there waiting for a couple hufflepuffs to finish ordering.
"hi ron." i say walking up to him.
"y/n, it's good to see you again. missed you over the summer."
"same, i got stuck with pansy." he laughs and begins to order his candy.
"two chocolate frogs and a sugar quil, please." the lady hands him his candy and he hands her some galleons.
"and you?" she asks with a friendly smile.
"oh, two pumpkin pasties please." she hands me the pasties and i give her some money.
we both turn around heading for different compartments, thinking one of us would follow the other. i turn around awkwardly realizing what i was doing and run over to ron, he turns back to me and laughs a little realizing what he did as well.
"sorry about that." i say and laugh a little.
he smiles, "ill see you at school then?"
"of course you will." i say and turn around with one last smile, i walk back to my seat.
the rest of the train ride is pretty quiet except for me and blaise. we talk more about the upcoming school year, but draco and pansy- mostly draco stays quiet. pansy tries to flirt with him but draco either shrugs or ignores it. he normally loves the attention, can't get enough of it.
weird.
once we got to the school and sat our luggage down, girls were running out of their dorms, fleeing down the stairs.
"what's going on?" i ask pansy stepping out into the hallway.
she shrugs, "i don't know, come on let's find out." she pulls my arm and drags me downstairs.
we meet up with draco and blaise and follow some other slytherins down to a huge crowd, outside over looking a lake.
"what's going on? do you know?" i ask bugging draco.
"schools are coming here, see?" he points to a flying carriage in the sky, as hagrid is waving it down. everyone gasps in awe.
"well there's something you don't see everyday." i hear one of the weasley twins say.
then a huge boat comes straight out of the water, is was brown and tough. i wonder where all these people are coming from.
"i heard viktor krum is in that boat, he's coming here." draco says proudly.
"who?" i ask furrowing my brow.
"you don't know who viktor krum is?" blaise asks, his eyes wide.
"uncultured." draco states rolling his eyes. i laugh and look back at the crowd, everyone is walking back into the great hall. we all follow, draco and blaise still mumbling on about viktor.
as we take out seats in the great hall, i look over to ron and he looks back at me and smiles. his red hair is longer now, and he has gotten taller. i smile back.
"-so hogwarts has been chosen to host the triwizard tournament." dumbledore states and i realize what he is saying.
blaise and draco smirk, and everyone gasps in excitement.
dumbledore explains the details about the tournament, and i am in awe. it sounds so cool.
"but more of that later, for now please help me in welcoming the lovely ladies of beauxbatons academy of magic and their head mistress, madam maxine."
a bunch of girls walk in, all dressed in blue. they gracefully walk down the aisle, and i feel all the boys perk up. i roll my eyes but am slightly intimidated by them. then a very tall woman walks in, and everyone claps.
"and now our friends from the north, please greet the proud sons of dumstrang and their headmaster."
now a bunch of guys walked in beating a stick on the ground. they all walked at the same time, with the same motions.
they were even more intimating.
"it's him, viktor krum." blaise whispers to the table. they all glance over to him, most of the girls stare breathlessly. i don't though, i don't really know who he is.
i kind of zone out for a moment focusing on dracos blond hair.
i quickly snap out of though when i hear dumbledore speak, "- as from this moment the triwizard tournament has begun."
"i wish they'd let us enter." blaise says slumping down on the table.
"why won't they let us?" i ask.
"they just told us y/n, pay attention this is important stuff." draco chimes in.
"sorry, sorry." i say defensively and chuckle a little bit. must have zoned out on that.
