Kylie's Pov
I heard a noise next to me. Beep. Beep. Beep. It was continuously going off. Is this what heaven is like? I thought to myself. My eyelids felt lighter so I slowly opened them. I didn't know what to expect. I opened my eyes and saw my mom. She jumped up. "Oh my gosh! Kylie, are you ok?" She looked like she had been crying for a while. I looked on the other side of my bed to see Soda asleep. "He has been in here since they brought you. This is his first time asleep," my mom said, noticing I had saw him. "What happened?" I was barely getting out my words. "Samuel. He beat you. You have been out for the past 5 days. And," she said but stopped. I looked at her. She wasn't telling me something. "What is it?" I asked her, worried. "Samuel he got arrested the other day for manslaughter." My eyes went wide. Manslaughter? Who did he kill? Wait! Where is dad? "Mom! Where is dad?" I said screaming. She shushed me and took my hand. "Kylie, please don't freak out." You could tell she had been over this for days. "Samuel went to stab you and your father jumped onto him. Kylie. Samuel stabbed your father in the chest. He realized what he did and ran out of the house. I don't even know if he was sad he did it. I'm sorry Kylie. Your dad died of blood lose." She was crying. I couldn't hold back the tears. "He died saving me?" I asked crying. My mom nodded. That's all she could do. Nod. It was hard to speak. The thought of losing a parent hurts you. Actually losing a parent kills you. It felt as if my heart stopped. The beeps starting getting faster. "Calm down, Kylie. Please. I don't want to lose you too," she pleaded. I tried to steadiness my breathing but instead I passed out. When I woke up, my mom was gone. I looked over and saw Soda at my bedside. He had ahold of my hand and had his head pushed into my blanket. He was crying, you could tell. He squeezed his hand and his head jolted up. He jumped onto my and hugged me. "Kylie! I thought I lost you. Why was I ever so stupid to leave you? I almost lost you. I broke up with you to stop the reason you are in here for. Why am I so dumb?" He kept asking that repeatedly. "Soda, you aren't dumb. You did what you thought was right," I said smiling a bit. I didn't have enough strength to hold it. "I ruined everything. I ruined us," he said looking into my eyes. That hurt me. Even if he broke up with me, he didn't ruin us. I still love him. "You didn't ruin us. I still love you. And I always will." He smiled and kissed me on the lips. It felt good to feel his lips again. "I need you in my life," he said. I smiled and gained enough strength to hold it. He looked at me and smiled. "Then just ask," I said. He stood up and grabbed my hand. "Kylie, would you please come back to me. Even after everything I've done to not deserve you." He just smiled. I nodded. "Of course. Nothing you do will ever make me stop loving you." He leaned down and kissed me. I heard clapping and looked up. "Look what the cat dragged in," Soda said referring to Two-Bit. Two laughed and ran to me. "I missed you Kylie. Please don't scare me like that again," he hugging me. I hugged him back and smiled. "I won't." Then all the boys came rushing in. "Oh my gosh. You're awake. I thought we lost you," Pony said running up to me. He kissed my forehead and looked at me smiling. "The sunsets don't look the best from in here." I giggled at Pony's joke and looked at the other. They all took their turn, hugging me and talking to me. Darry stood at the end of my bed. You could tell he had something on his mind. "Darry, please say what is on your mind?" He looked at me and frowned. "I'm sorry Kylie. I'm sorry about your dad." He shook his head and looked at the ground. A few tears fell down my face when he said that. I looked at him and slightly smiled. "Thank you, Darry. That means so much to me."

A Few Days Later (Still Kylie's Pov)
I was getting released from the hospital today. I was so happy to. The boys and my mom had been visiting me everyday. Sometimes people from school would drop by. Some Socs and some greasers. It was nice to have company. The boys had been telling me stories and giving me something to laugh at. Everyone seemed so happy besides Darry. It was only the Curtis's in my room at the moment. I wanted to speak to Darry alone. "Hey, Pony, could you run down to the gift shop and get me a nice book to read? Anyone you want," I asked throwing him $30. He smiled and nodded as he was headed out the door. Then I looked over at Soda. He smiled at me and waited for what I had to say. "Soda, could you run to the house and get me a clean pair of clothes?" I asked tossing him my keys. He nodded and left my room. I looked at Darry and crossed my arms. He sighed and looked at me. "Yes, Kylie?" "Why are you so down?" He smiled a bit and went over to me. "You always know when someone's upset," he said shaking his head. "Michelle and me broke up. She moved to New York to continue her dreams as a photographer. She said she would stay but I broke up with her and told her that I wasn't gonna keep her from her dreams," he said quietly. "I'm so sorry, Dar." He smiled and shook his head. "It's fine. Thank you Kylie." I smiled and he left my room. The nurse came in a bit later and said I was free to leave. She was followed by Soda and Pony. Pony handed me a book called Gone With the Wind. I smiled at him and thanked him. Then Soda gave me my clothes and kissed my forehead. "We will be in the car," he said before leaving. I nodded and changed as soon as they left. I went to walk out the door, but turned around before I did. "Thank you, dad," I said and then shut the door.
