Kylie's Pov
The day had been long, but I was excited for my date with Soda. I dropped Beckah off at her house and drove over to the Curtis'. When I pulled up, Soda was waiting outside. He ran over to my car and jumped in, immediately kissing my cheek and jawline. I turned to him and pecked his lips before backing out of the driveway. "Where am I headed?" He smiled and looked at me. "The lake," he said, causing my lips to curl up into a smile. He had his hand on my thigh while I drove us to the lake. "Did you go Christmas shopping?" I nodded. "Yeah. I'm surprised at how hot the weather is for it almost being Christmas," I said. He nodded in agreement. When we pulled up, I smiled, thinking about last time we were here. It was our first time. And for right now, our only time. I looked over at a grinning Soda. When we exchanged eye contact he winked at me.

We got out and began walking on a trial alongside the lake, hand in hand. Every so often, we'd glance at each other and smile. We didn't talk. Just walked in an extremely comfortable silence, enjoying the love in the air. When we arrived back at the car, Soda popped the trunk and grab a butt load of blanks. He walked over to the dock and spread them out. When he was done, he took my hand and led me to the pile of blankets. He popped down and admired the view. The stars and mom were lighting up the lake, giving it an iridescent glow. I sat next to Soda and laid my head on his shoulder. We stayed like that for a bit until he turned his head. He stared at me so I smirked and faced him. "Yes, Soda?" I smiled at him, showing my teeth. "You are absolutely beautiful, baby," he said, making me blush a lot. I kissed him soft at first, but it got extremely passionate. I flipped over on top of him and straddled his waist. I kissed him along his jaw as I rubbed my hands under his shirt, up and down his chest. He grabbed my butt and slowly moved up my back, pulling me closer to him. I pulled away from him for a second and smiled. "I am crazy for you Soda," I said and then went back to kissing him.

{Ya Know What Happened}

I rolled off of Soda and into his arms. I cuddled into his chest and laughed. "You know what, I think we need to find a new spot next time," I said, making us both laugh. He kissed my forehead and then pulled me closer to him. "I never got to say it back, but I love you," he said pecking my lips. I smiled at him and tucked my head back into his chest.

When I woke back up, I was laying in Soda's bed. Soda was laying next to me. I had my under garments on and one of his white shirts. He had on a pair of boxers and a blue T-shirt. I kissed his cheek and got up, making my way to the kitchen. "Morning, Kylie," Pony said, seeming really excited. "Morning, Pony. You are in a good mood," I said back to him happily. He nodded. "Five more days til Christmas. Who wouldn't be happy," he said laughing. I smiled back at him and giggled a bit. I walked over to the fridge and grabbed a plate of cake. I made my way to the couch and sat down, turning on Mickey Mouse. An hour or so went by before Soda woke up. "I was wondering why the bed was so cold. My cuddle buddy was gone," he said yawning. I laughed and kissed his cheek, as he sat down next to me. He laid his head between my legs and began watching tv. "Want some?" I asked. He turned his head to see what it was and nodded. I shoveled some onto the fork and put it by his mouth. He ate the cake and smiled. "Thanks, hun," he said laughing. I giggled and went back to eating and watching tv.

{CHRISTMAS MORNING}

I woke up to being shook by Ponyboy. "Kylie, wake up. It's Christmas," he said all happy. I jumped up and hugged him. "Merry Christmas, Pony," I said laughing. I kissed Soda and he opened his eyes. "Hey, baby," he said in a groggy voice. He stretched out and then jumped up. "It's Christmas!" He shouted. Me and Pony laughed. We headed out into the living room and saw everyone sitting around the room. Even Beckah was here. "Merry Christmas, y'all," I said to everyone. Everyone shouted 'merry Christmas' back at me and I smiled. I loved Christmas. Everyone began exchanging gifts. First Johnny got his gifts. I handed him a Christmas card and he smiled. "Thanks, Kylie," he said without opening it. "Open it," I said smiling. When he opened it his eyes went wide. "You shouldn't have. This is too much," he said pulling out the one hundred dollar bill. Everyone's eyes went open in shock. I smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "My turn," Pony blurted out. I gave him a long, thin wrapped present. He opened it up and looked shocked. "A signed poster of Gone With The Wind?" He said freaking out. I nodded and laughed. He jumped up and did a celebration dance, causing everyone to laugh. I gave him a kiss on the cheek. Two and Darry got their gifts next. I gave Darry a new tool box and Two a case of beer and some Mickey Mouse pajamas. They also received a kiss on the cheek. I looked at Dally and he smirked. "Where is my gift?" He asked. I tossed him 5 packs of cigarettes. "You shouldn't have," he said laughing. I smiled and kissed him on the cheek. "I love the holidays," he said, earning a punch in the arm from Natalyn. I tossed Steve a box with a red bow. He slowing tore open the gift and smiled when he saw the shiny red switch blade. "Wow. This is prettier than mine," Two said. "Thank you so much Kylie," Steve said handling his switchblade. I smiled and kissed his cheek. I gave Aspen a box with a sketch book and a ton of colored pencils. She freaked out and hugged me. I kissed her cheek and smiled. I loved everyone's reactions. Next was my gift to Nat. I handed it to her. It was a locket with a picture of her parents in it. I saw as tears began to slide down his cheeks. She hugged me and I wiped away the tears and kissed her cheek. I looked around. Soda and Beckah left. I jumped up and ran to my room. "Guys I'll be right back. Gotta go grab a gift I left at my house," I said running out of the house. I ran over to the lot and got in a red mustang. I drove up a block down from the Curtis house and got out. I then ran back to the house and laughed. "Here," I said tossing Beckah a pair of keys. "What are these for?" She asked. "Well, I am renting Tim Shepherd's basement for you to live in, if you want since you are currently living at my house," I said smiling. She got up and ran to me, jumping onto me. "I love you so much," she said. "I love you too," I said kissing her cheek. "My last gift to be given is to a very special man. Mr. Sodapop, would you like to follow me outside? You too boys," I said walking out the door. They all followed. We soon walked up to the red mustang and I leaned against it and tossed Soda the keys. "I hope you like the color red," I said laughing. He caught the keys and just stood there shocked. "Babe, I can't. This is way too much," he said confused. "I don't care. I want you to have it. If you love me you'll take it," I said kissing him. He smiled. "Only for you," he said laughing. "Everyone, hop in. Let's drive around the block and then we can give Kylie her gifts," Soda said happily. We all jumped in and drove for a bit. You could tell he loved it. We all got back out. It was my turn for gifts. I sat down on the floor and smiled. First was Johnny. "Kylie, I don't got no money. Well I do now, but I didn't. So I wrote you a poem instead." He cleared his throat and began.
"The friend lives half in the grass
and half in the chocolate cake,
walks over to your house in the bashful light
of November, or the forceful light of summer.
You put your hand on her shoulder,
or you put your hand on his shoulder.
The friend is indefinite. You are both
so tired, no one ever notices the sleeping bags
inside you and under your eyes when you're talking
together about the glue of this life, the sticky
saturation of bodies into darkness. The friend's crisis
of faith about faith is unnerving in its power
to influence belief, not in or toward some other
higher power, but away from all power in the grass
or the lake with your hand on her shoulder, your hand
on his shoulder. You tell the friend the best things
you can imagine, and every single one of them has
already happened, so you recount them
of great necessity with nostalgic, atomic ferocity,
and one by one by one until many. The eggbirds whistle
the gargantuan trees. The noiserocks fall twisted
into each other's dreams, their colorful paratrooping,
their skinny dark jeans, little black walnuts
to the surface of this earth. You and the friend
remain twisted together, thinking your simultaneous
and inarticulate thoughts in physical lawlessness,
in chemical awkwardness. It is too much
to be so many different things at once. The friend
brings black hole candy to your lips, and jumping
off the rooftops of your city, the experience.
So much confusion — the several layers of exhaustion,
and being a friend with your hands in your pockets,
and the friend's hands in your pockets.
O bitter black walnuts of this parachuted earth!
O gongbirds and appleflocks! The friend
puts her hand on your shoulder. The friend
puts his hand on your shoulder. You find
a higher power when you look."
He finished and I smiled at him, not realizing a few tears had dripped down my cheek. "That was beautiful, Johnny." He smiled and hugged me. Pony ended up getting me a real nice dress and Steve gave me a matching pair of heels. Two gave me a Minnie shirt which made me laugh. Beckah gave me a really nice Polaroid camera. Aspen looked happy so I turned to her. She got up and handed me a sketch of me and Soda. It must have been when we were asleep on the couch. Soda was laying on his back asleep and I lay on his stomach, also asleep. I smiled at the photo and hugged her. Dally tossed me a switchblade. "That is to protect yourself," he said. I laughed and thanked him. Darry got up and handed me a box. Inside was.m a bracelet with my dad's birthday on it. "Darry, this is so nice. Thank you," I said hugging him. He smiled and kissed my forehead. Nat hopped up and smiled. "You ready for my gift?" She asked. I nodded and she headed out the back door. When she came back in, she was holding an Australian Shepherd puppy. My mouth dropped open and I was crying a bit. She gave him to me. "Nat, thank you. He is adorable," I said. She smiled. "What are you gonna name him?" Pony asked. "I know it's a basic dog name, but Charli," I said smiling. "I love that name," Soda said. I sat there playing with Charli when Soda left for his room. Maybe he forgot my gift in there. When he came back out, he didn't have anything in his hands. He walked up to me and took Charli, giving him to Aspen. He hugged me and kissed my forehead. "Kylie, I love you more than words. I was thinking in my room a while back, what should I get her for Christmas? Well. I know what I want to give you for Christmas. I want to give love, compassion, care, support, you name it." He kneeled down and pulled out a small box. When he opened it, a ring appeared in view. It was a diamond ring. It was gorgeous. My hand flew to my mouth and my eyes began watering. "Kylie Christine Scott, when I first met you, I didn't see just a Soc. I saw a beautiful girl. And I knew that girl was the one. The way you smiled. The way you giggled. The way you looked into my eyes. The love you give me. The feeling I get when I'm around you. I never want to stop feeling that feeling. Kylie, I love you. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you," he said smiling wide. "Will you marry me?" He asked. I dropped to my knees crying. He flung myself onto him, kissing him everywhere on his face. "Yes, Soda, a million times yes!"
