Lin sat at her desk reviewing her officer's paperwork. The day had been an eventful one. The force had busted ring 2 of the Agni Kais. It wasn't the top leaders, but it was a step in the right direction. A knock at the door interrupted her work, "Come in," she said, curtly.

Tenzin entered the room and stood in front of Lin's desk, closing the door as he stepped inside, "Lin," he said with a nod.

The chief looked up at the airbender, "What is it that you want, Tenzin?"

"Nothing, nothing. No, I just came to congratulate you. Busting the second ring of a triad as big as the Agni Kais is no easy feat."

Lin stared blankly at Tenzin. Did he seriously come here just to congratulate me? Ugh. Just be polite Lin, be polite. "Thank you."

Tenzin remained where he was, and he said nothing, earning a raised eyebrow from Lin. "Is there something else Tenzin? I'm guessing you didn't come to discuss the details of the bust."

"Well... Yes, there is."

I knew he wanted something from me. "Are you going to keep it to yourself? Spit it out already."

Tenzin took a seat across from Lin, he shifted as though he were uncomfortable, "Well, I'm worried."

"About what?" Lin crossed her arms in annoyance. He really was taking his sweet time telling her.

He avoided Lin's gaze, "I'm worried about Kya."

Lin managed to keep her emotions concealed, leaving her face unchanged, but her thoughts were running wild. Why is he worried about Kya? Does he know about us? Did something happen to her?

Tenzin used the pause in conversation to explain himself, "She's been leaving the island a lot lately, and I know that she's an adult and can do whatever she wants, but what concerns me is the secrecy. She won't tell anyone where she's going, or when she'll be back. It's been going on for weeks!"

Oh, I know. Lin recalled how much time her and Kya had spent together since they made their relationship official. The thought made almost made the chief blush. Almost. "Tenzin, don't you think you're overreacting. Kya's been all over the world, I think she can handle herself."

Tenzin frowned, "I know that, but-"

"No. No buts. I am not your babysitter, or your sister's. Now if that's all you wanted to bother me with, get out."

"I just wanted your help. Kya respects you..."

"What do you want me to do Tenzin?! Spy on her? Do you really think that's the best idea? Even after you got your tattoos, Kya could still kick your ass. She'll be pissed if she catches you or me snooping."

Tenzin huffed away, his orange robe spinning dramatically as he left. The trip was not a total waste for him. The details of an idea formed in his mind as he left the precinct.

Spirits, he's such a baby. I mean, seriously, what does her expect me to do? Tail Kya? That's ridiculous, especially since I know exactly where she's been all those nights... Lin grinned. She couldn't wait to tell Kya about this.

Lin came home to the sound of pots clanging coming from the kitchen. She rushed in expecting to find the mess that Kya usually makes when she tries to cook, instead, she saw Kya putting the dishes away.

"Hey!" Kya said as she greeted Lin with a quick peck on the lips. She turned back to the pans she had put on the counter.

"What in Yangchen's name are you doing?"

Kya turned back around, a pan in each of her hands, "Well... I thought about cooking for you, but I remembered how last time went," Kya pouted, "So I reevaluated and ordered Kuang's! It should be here soon." Kya's pouted lip turned into a beaming smile.

Lin grinned as she bent her armor off, "Tenzin came to see me at work today."

Kya's eyebrows flew up in surprise, "Really? Why?"

The chief chuckled, "Well, he came to ask me to spy on you."

"Excuse me?! He did not! I'm going to kill him," Kya's eyebrows furrowed and she crossed her arms defensively.

"Hey, hey..." Lin said softly as she grabbed her girlfriend by the waist, "He's just worried about you."

Kya rolled her eyes, but uncrossed her arms, "I appreciate that, but I am an adult. I don't need him monitoring me."

"I know, that's why I told him he was overreacting. I also told him that if you caught him you'd kick his ass," Lin grinned at the thought of Kya beating up Tenzin. Hot.

"Thank you," Kya softened her expression and kissed Lin's forehead.

The doorbell rang, interrupting their embrace. "Food's here."

On the roof of the building next door, stood a man dressed in traditional orange and yellow robes. He lowered the binoculars from his brow and dropped them to the ground in shock. His sister and... and Lin.
