Lin woke early Saturday morning, like every other day. She sat up on the edge of the bed and began to stretch. Her body was still sore from the fight that had taken place earlier in the week. She rose and got ready for the day.

As she made herself tea, Lin realized she had yet to get Korra a gift. Spirits, what the hell am I going to get her?, Lin thought. She drank her tea and decided that she would head down to the market and see if there was anything the avatar might like, if not, Korra would be getting some spare yuan stuffed into an envelope.

Lin hated the market. Too many people in too little space. This morning it was especially busy because of the first day of the weekend. Lin shuffled through mobs of people in a slow attempt to get to the shops. She pushed open the door to a small gift shop and stepped inside. With a quick glance, Lin realized she has walked into a tourist shop. Hats and t-shirts that read "I heart Republic City" were everywhere. Lin quickly turned to leave, but unfortunately caught the attention of the old lady at the counter. "Officer! Would you like to by a hat? Or perhaps a t-shirt? We have options available for everyone" the old lady said with a smile.

Great, Lin thought. "Oh, uhh no, no I don't need anything. You see, I live in Republic City" Lin uttered in response.

"You live here and so you can't show your love for your city? Or you can't support a small business?"

"What?? Of course I love this city!" A shocked Lin stated, "I'm the chief of police for Yangchen's sake!"

"The chief of police? Well then you should be happy to show your pride for the city" the old lady stated, grabbing Lin by the wrist and leading her to a wall of t-shirts.

I guess Korra's getting a t-shirt...

35 painful minutes later, Lin walked out of the gift shop with a t-shirt that read "Republic City's Finest" and a hat with the words "I heart Republic City" that she had somehow been talked into purchasing. Lin was exhausted. She looked at her watch and checked the time: 10:30. Perfect, just enough time to go home and recover before the party.
