MADDIE'S head is spinning as she sits in the passenger seat of Stiles' jeep, her knuckles are tainted with white as she squeezes the seatbelt in her grasp. It's only been two days —— not even that actually, just under twenty—four hours if you're looking for specificity —— since they found out who the alpha is and he's wasted no time to slither his way into their lives.
When Scott had asked for help to put a stop to Melissa and Peter's date, Maddie had thought they would cause a distraction of some sort ( she didn't know what kind but she thought it would be the best way ), maybe they would even come up with some sort of emergency ( again, Maddie didn't quite figure out the finer details ). She did not expect the plan to include ramming the jeep into the back of Peter's car.
As the steam hisses from the back of the car, Stiles opens his eyes, slowly letting his grip of the steering wheel loosen. With her grip still on the seatbelt, Maddie slowly looks over to Stiles who gives a timid shrug, pairing an awkward smile along with it. She expels the oxygen from her lungs as she leans her head back, unclicking her seatbelt.
Once outside, she flexes her fingers, trying to release the tension from them. She looks at the damage done to both vehicles, her face morphing into a frown before she walks through the gap to get to the other side, saving herself time from having to walk all the way around the jeep.
"Aw, are you kidding me?" Stiles and Maddie exchange a quick glance with one another, backs slightly straightened as Melissa slams the door shut. She looks over to the blue jeep, recognising it and its driver instantly. "Stiles!"
"Mrs McCall?" Stiles questions in surprise after stumbling out the jeep. Maddie hides the smile that begs to grow at his acting skills. Maybe there's hope for him yet.
Melissa throws her hands up in the air. "Yes!"
"Wow, this is. . . this is just crazy. What a coincidence, huh?"
And the hope starts to dwindle.
Melissa lets out a fake laugh, displeased. Stiles shakes his head, hands flapping about like he doesn't know what to do with them. "I mean, I do not know what happened. You guys just came out of nowhere."
Maddie's nerves begin to knot in her stomach as Scott's mom looks over to Stiles with a dumbfounded expression. Thankfully, Melissa seems to be too shocked at what's happened, the anger bubbling in her chest, to question Stiles' stupidity. Stiles buckles at the look, lips quirking up in a small smile as his hand brushes over his buzzcut.
