I've been wanting to do this chapter for quite a while now so eXcItEmEnT 😂
First off- I LOVE the added moon dynamic to the entire show, kay? Some people like to argue that's it too cliche, or it's too bent off from the original movie, etc. Y'all are just salty let us fanpotato in peace 😌 namaste
ANYWAY- this scene is GORGEOUS AND VERY WELL DONE AND I ADORE IT
1. The MUSIC. They take the original sound of the sunflower incantation and the put it into a minor key I believe? And it's lower and swooping and cool and CREEPY and I love it djhdishxisjsjdhidu. One of the biggest instruments for it were the violins I think, and they're definitely extremely beautiful so heck yeah that's perfection *chefs kiss* Seriously, I'm giving just the music itself 10/10 lol it makes me happy I listen to that stuff just on repeat sometimes cuz I'm a freaking NERD-
2. Rapunzel's appearance! ITS SO COOL- (photo is up there btw^) the black eyes? Amazing. The creepy black hair that seems to have a mind of its own? Love it. The way it literally puts her ina trance she can't seem to break out of? I liVE FOR THAT- but yeah it's super cool 😌
3. The overall mood of this scene is absolutely wonderful, let me tell you. It's creepy and desperate, to put it lightly. Rapunzel is so out of it, Cass is trying to so hard to get her attention and you can SEE how worried she is about her, (we stan Cass so hard) and the sound effects and the music and the echoes- *chefs kiss* Love it.
Now, I believe some other names for the hurt incantation are as follows-
Whither Incantation
Decay Incantation
COOL BEAN INCAN- jk that's just me heheHurt incantation lyrics-
Whither and decay
End this destiny
Break these earthly chains
And set the spirit freeTake what had been hurt
Grant them no mercy
Bend and break the reigns
And set the spirit free
The spirit free...Now I know SOME of you might want to object and ask where I got the second verse and I'll tell you now that I LOOKED IT uP ok and it's the official thing, aight? They just didn't use it in the show and that's that.
But it's cool, right?
I'd like to point out another cool thing here- notice how in the scene, the blackness in Ralunzel's hair starts at her TIPS and moves UP? While with the healing incantation, in the movie, the golden glow always came from the roots of her hair and moved down. This is a really awesome dynamic the creators threw in!
See, the point of this is that the healing incantation is drawing power from Rapunzel and moving it to whatever she's fixing, yeah? The hurt incantation is sucking the life out of whatever it touches. It's designed to kill. It's drawing power from other things and moving it to Rapunzel. (Not that she really gets to have it I don't think)
