Being the only girl in the group had been something you were quite used to, after all you had been friends with the four boys for about a year now. Surprisingly enough it had been a good friendship with them effectively balancing the others out and it definitely a better change than being subjected to more boring indoor activities. It was fun just getting to explore, smoke if you wanted to and just banter about without having filter your language around them. If anything they encouraged it too, but it was mainly the crazier one Teddy who seemed to bring it out of you more than the others.

The one thing the boys didn’t understand was Teddy's constant need to make up bullshit exaggerated stories to you. If they made him look good he would sell them to you and just kind of argue his way out of it when Gordie or Chris would call him on it. It didn’t make a lick of sense until one night it the penny had dropped for them.

Their best friend might have a huge crush on their new girl friend.

Like now, they had been holed up in the clubhouse on a July afternoon with ice creams and cigarettes. The radio was blasting some rocking tunes and as the hit air seeped in, Teddy had just been done telling another story. Reciting another recent event only he didn’t make a fool of Ace like he claimed and the others knew this bar from you. Sitting lazily against the wall, he was closer than usual as you finished off your strawberry cone.

Laughing at both the painted imagine and Teddy's unique laugh, you hadn't noticed him take a second longer in his admiration or as the boys had mocked him for, his oogly googly eyes.

Chris cut him off with a snort against the game box, “Yeah right, that's bullshit yet again Teddy bear.”

“Go ahead, keep laughing. I know it happened, seen it with my own four eyes.”

“I think we have different ideas of how this went down, oh mystical four eyes.” Gordie’s eyes were trained on his cards, lollipop jutting out the corner to his mouth.

“That true?” You smirked, crunching the last of the cone. It was always amusing to hang with them, beats staying at home but now you were invested too deep.

“Nah Y/N he just likes you.” Chris answered for Teddy and he practically dared him to deny it.

Eyes widened and suddenly it all made sort of sense now. A nervous bubble formed in your stomach and your eyes glued to Teddy, trying to appear nonchalant. That was one thing you did not need right now, a possible teasing if they were just pulling your leg.

Teddy almost immediately complained, “Shit man, put me on the firing squad why don’t you?” In his mind there was no sense in denying it now, he had been caught essentially.

“Don't sweat it, we'll give you two a moment alone.” Chris nudged a half sleeping Vern and Gordie followed the two down the hatch.

Well that was embarrassing you just wondered if the oddly silent boy beside you thought so too.

“So. Teddy, hey look at me.” You had to pep him up. If it was real then gosh you were something else, if not then jeez you weren’t sure how to go on from there. Warmth filled your cheeks, a tell tale sign that your nerves had done what you didn’t want them to do, make you look all blushed like a tomato.

“Was that the truth or was Chris just talking trash?” You asked, tilting your body to face him properly.

“Well, you see.” He started and his eyes darted around like crazy before he huffed and watched you apprehensively, as if he were about to spout the most outrageous conspiracy theories unknown.

Teddy, despite his faux confidence was still even the slightest bit unsure if you would go for him.

Nevertheless it was time to man up and so he mustered up the courage to spit it out. “Shit, yeah jeez, it's true alright. I like you Y/N like a lot.”

“Yeah I said it and I mean it.” More to himself than you.

When you didn't say anything back, he was internally panicking, thinking he made himself look like a jackass. Teddy’s hand brushed yours when he wasn’t sure what to do.

“I like you, so do you like me back?” He spoke again, unable to shut up now that it had all essentially been out there now.

Seconds later, and Teddy could hardly believe it but you had leaned over and kissed him. It was soft and innocent, nothing quite as raunchy as the teenagers would do.

He was in bliss for those few sweet seconds.

“I can count that as a fuck yes, right?” A goofy smile appeared on his face and he reached out to tug you back in for some more.
