"What?" Shocked, standing at the door waiting for the man I have not seen or heard from in six years to explain what he means by Dimitri. Funny, how one name can crash a person's world.

"Would you let me in?" He makes his way into my apartment. "This is what it looks like." He shrugs and looks at me.

"Dad, what is it about Dimitri?" He sits down, keeping his gaze away from mine.

"We lost track of him and I think it is because he has found you and is now planning on killing you." Amari's cries for me distract the both of us from the conversation.

"When did you have a child?"

"I did not give birth to her, she is the daughter of a friend." Explaining things to my dad would create chaos, this man's best friend is his gun.

"Will she need protection as well?" Of course.

"She goes everywhere with me. I am not leaving her side." He looks at me, a long analyzing look, the ones he used to give me before telling me about mom.

"She misses you too, just go be with her, you both clearly have not lost feelings for each other in the eighteen years you have been apart." He should take my advice.

"I can only get back with her if you decide that you are ready to lead the mafia like you are supposed to." Here we go again

"Like last time, I do not think I am ready or that they will take well to be lead by a mixed-race woman." It is mostly men in the mafia and most of them do not think women need to have guns.

"You are going to show them and yourself, that you can do this because I believe in you, like I always have."

"How are you going to handle Dimitri?" I really hate talking about this man.

"Not me, we. I need your help and because of that, I need you in Russia, we can protect you best on our home soil."

"But doesn't Russia give him as much of an advantage as it gives us?"

"What do you suggest we do?"

"I honestly do not know, you know him best, he was your henchman, your advisor."

"Yes, he was but a person can change drastically in six years. We need to think out of the box." He sits on my couch and signals for me to sit down. "This is where you come in, remember Germany?

"I was thirteen and it was a lucky guess." I told them not to take the road with no traffic, it turns out there was a mole and he did not tell dad that there would be police on that road.

"No it wasn't, instinct, you were made for this, you are even better than your old man, just really short tempered." He laughs

"Actually, I have been working on my anger, it is no longer as bad." Proud, his face beams with pride.

"So you want us to stay here?" I think it is best.

"Yes, I know this place better than he does and I know people here. You can stay with mom, I will organize something for anyone coming from Russia." I stand up to fetch Amari. "Here is Amari." She waves. Dad falls in love with her like everyone else.

"She is so cute. Hi." He is a great father, just did not know how best to be there for me. What I noticed is that Amari can speak but she needs to know and trust you for her to reveal that to you. I am not sure if that is normal.

"When are we going to mom?" He looks at me, he really does not want to face the woman he hurt the most.

"When do you think we should go?"

"Now, she is at home and she has not seen Amari in a while so, let's go." I grab Josh's car keys.

"Now?" Hesitation is evident.

"Dad, face this, let's do this."

"Mom-" I make my way into the house "- Where are you? I have someone here for you."  She walks out of her room, looks at Amari and thinks that is the person who I brought. As she comes closer she notices dad and she stands shook, as though she can not function properly.

"Prelest' moya." He steps closer to her and she looks like she wants to cry. (Translation: My precious)

"Lesedi-" Denial has her still, he holds his hand out, would think she would hold his hand, the man she loves is standing in front of her and she is blinded by anger. "-No, eighteen years, eighteen years Dima, you left me, your first born daughter, I was eighteen Dima!" Tears flowing from her eyes, she doesn't want his presence if it does not come with answers. (Translation:Lesedi means light)

"Mimma, I have missed you and Alyone-" (Translation: Mimma=baby/ Alyone=light)

"No, you do not get to call her that, not at all. You do not have that right!" It is my middle name, he gave it to me and asked my mother to make it my middle name and she did it but we never really used it.

"Precious, let me explain. Please?" Never in my entire life have I seen my father beg, I have seen him do many things but beg is definitely not one of them.

"Dima, you have one hour and in the hour you better tell me the truth, all of it, nothing but the truth and then we will take it from there but until I tell you when your hour is, out of my house." She folds her arms on her chest and he knows what that means. He makes his way outside.

"Uhm, I am going to talk to him for a moment."

"Hold on, May, you have a lot of explaining to do and do not think you are getting away with anything because you do not live under my roof." I make my way to dad, avoiding my mother.

"So that went well?" Breaking the tension.

"You think, as long as she does not hate me, I am happy."

"No matter how angry she gets, she could never be mad at you. Me on the other hand, she is going to be mad for some time." We wait for my mother, she is stubborn but she will not keep us here forever, or could she?

"What do I tell her? I can't tell her what I told you."

"The truth, dad. She deserves to know plus she won't tell anyone and if she does they won't believe her."

"I keep forgetting that you have a life of your own. We need you back in Russia."

"Dad, Russia is a bittersweet country for me and as much as I want to go, there are things and people keeping me from going there." Josh and my past are keeping me here, I honestly am not in the right mental space for Russia.

"It is home, home may not have just good memories but it will always be there for you. There will be blood shed if you stay here, Alyone, please go home."

"Hold up, go home? You are staying here?" He better not be thinking of doing that.

"No but your mother and I have eighteen years of vacations that we have not had so we have to make up for lost time."

"If she takes you back, you know your woman."

"I know but being positive about it will not hurt."

"We have two options; stay here and wait for her or go to her so I can get my baby and you can confess your truth."

"Okay, option number two it is."
