The courtyard's aura was extremely gloomy and dark.

The Golden Quartet made their way through the yard. Shivers running down their spines, as they passed the executioner who was sharpening his great, large axe surrounded by crows. He sent them a malicious, wicked grin under his hood making Carina send a nasty look his way glaring daggers at him. They picked up their pace at the bridge, going up the hill. "I can't believe they're going to kill Buckbeak." Hermione spat, "It's just too horrible."

"It just got worse." Ron exclaimed gesturing towards Malfoy and his goons who were hiding behind a tall rock watching Hagrid from afar with binoculars.

"What'd I tell you? My father says I could keep the hippogriff's head. I think I'll donate it to the Gryffindor's common room." They heard Malfoy say.

The quartet were quick to march down and over to him completely blazing with anger. "Oh, come to see the show!?" Malfoy joked as he and his goons noticed them coming. "You! You foul, loathsome, evil little cockroach!" Hermione yelled pushing Malfoy against the rock, shoving her wand under his nose making him let out immediate, pathetic strings of small squeaks and whimpers. "Hermione, no!" Ron said, "He's not worth it."

"It's one hundred percent worth it if you ask me." Carina snarled under her breath beside Harry who grinned. Hermione slowly lowered her wand, backing away from Malfoy, as he and his goons laughed at her retreat, she—

SMACK !

She had punched him straight into his pointed face.

Hermione Granger just punched Draco Malfoy right in the face!

The Trio behind her were shocked. Completely shocked.

Draco, scared, holding his bloody nose, still quite stunned. His goons helped him up to his feet and they ran, stumbling and tripping over their own feet on the way. Hermione turned around to face her friends, looking shy as ever as she sheepishly smiled. "That felt good." She said. "Not good, brilliant!" Ron praised as the three smiled back at her making her bucked smile grow only wider.

"Look at him." Hagrid said as he, Carina and Harry stood by the window watching Buckbeak who had no idea or care at all for what was in store for him. "Loves the smell of the trees when the wind blows through 'em." Carina smiled sadly at that. "Why don't we just set him free?" Harry asked Hagrid. "They'd know it was me," Hagrid sighed. "And then Dumbledore would get into trouble. He's come down, you know Dumbledore. Says he wants to be with me when they..." He paused thickly. "When it happens." He turned away quick from the window.
