Hi everyone, here's another update that I hope that you guys will enjoy reading. It's a short chapter and I hope to update this book by the end of next week.
Unknown POV…
For the past two months, I've been slowly making progress in getting Emily to trust me. We have been scheduling play dates for the twins with my best friend's son Parker once a week for the last three weeks. It's crazy how neither my best friend Jordan nor his wife Dania has not once questioned me about the reason why I've been spending so much time with their precious son. They knew that I wasn't big on being around bratty kids, and yet they still haven't questioned my motives. It was like they didn't care or were simply too busy going at each other's throats like cats and dogs every time I picked him up.
“When am I going to see my woman?” Chase asked me as soon as I got off the phone with Emily setting up another play date between the twins and Parker.
“I'm not the one who's been stopping you from seeing her!” I retort while heading out back to the pool.
“And what is that supposed to mean?” Chase calls out to my back.
“If you want to see her then hop your ass in my car and go see her,” I replied before diving into the pool. I swam back and forth from each end a few times before coming up for air. Chase stood at the edge of the pool with his hands tucked into pockets of his beige cargo short looking down at me.
“How in the heck do you suppose I do that when I don't know where she works or stays?" He questioned me with his right eye raised.
“You could always call your friend Sofia and ask her since she works for the jackass you hate!” I responded while climbing out of the pool. I grabbed the small, yellow face towel off the back of the lounge chair then wiped the water from my face. I stood there shaking my head at how stupid my little brother really was.
Now I finally understood why he was still a damn virgin. He was simply too dumb to get a woman and if by chance he did get one he was too doggone boring to hold their damn attention longer than a few days. Plus the fact that he lacked common sense on how to go about getting the information that he needed to see the one woman whom he professed to love without my help. If he couldn't think to call his close friend Sofia for that information then how in the heck is he supposed to be able to hold a decent conversation with a woman as intelligent as Avery.
“Aah, that's right,” Chase says then pulls his phone out of his front pocket. I sat down on the lounge chair listening to his weird-ass one-sided conversation that seemed to take too long to get the information that he needed. I watched him dash into the house then came back outside to where I was sitting holding a piece of paper in his left hand and a huge smile on his ugly face.
“Come on bro, let's go!” He says while pulling me up from my seat.
“And just where are we supposed to be going?”
“You're going to take me over to Avery's house!” This big dummy says as if it was no big deal to be going over to someone else's house whom he barely knew unannounced.
“Nah, you can go over there by yourself,” I tell him while passing him my keys.
“Don't tell me that the curious Mr. Riley is all of a sudden afraid of coming face to face with a beautiful, intelligent woman.” Chase taunts me.
“You know me better than that bro. I just think that you would have a better chance of getting with her if I wasn't around.” I lied. I didn't want to go because I knew that Reese was going to be there and I didn't want to take any chances in ruining my plans for the future. Even though I desperately wanted to see the look of distraught and humiliation marred on Chase's face it just wasn't worth me throwing my hard-earned plans of destruction down the drain.
“I'll tell you all about how things went when I got back home.” He says after taking my keys out of my hand.
“I'm sure you will.” I sarcastically respond with glee. I was sure that he wasn't going to have to tell me about how things went because his bruised up face and body were going to do all the talking when Reese got done with him.
“Where do you think you're going?” My father asked as soon as I walked into the house heading upstairs to change into dryer clothes.
“You don't pay any bills here for you to be able to wash and change clothes whenever you feel like it.” He retorts while coming to stand in front of me.
“You know what, I'll just keep these on then father!” I snapped then turned and walked back towards the front door grabbing the keys to my Harley Davison biker off the keyholder by the door.
“Why are you always so hard on him?” I heard my mother asked her husband before I walked out and slammed the door in the process.
