Yeona shuts the book in front of her, sighing as she leans forward, her forehead colliding with the hardcover of the text. She has been studying for this test for hours, and it's beginning to feel as if she isn't taking in any of the information at all anymore.
"I can't do this anymore Taeminnie." she whines
"Okay, fine, we'll take a break." he replies, closing the book in his hands
"I'm never going to pass Sociology. I wish I could have just done dancing and no other subjects." Yeona continues
"Yeona, you're smarter than me... you will pass with flying colours, and if you don't get top marks for this, at least you will in our dance subject!" Taemin encourages her
Yeona tries to hide her smile, words of encouragement from her closest college friend always make her feel better. She stands up from the desk setup in Taemin's dorm and stretches her legs and back. Yeona looks over at Taemin, his eyes are glued to the phone in his hands, and she clicks her tongue at him to get his attention.
"Oh, sorry, did you say something?" Taemin asks
"Taemin-ah! I need fresh air. Do you want to go get a drink?" she asks him
"Sure! I was just going to suggest the same thing!" he replies
"You have that look on your face... why were you going to suggest that?" Yeona asks sceptically
The tension in the room shifts, as Taemin realises that he is not as sneaky as he wants to be, although he can admit that he has never been good at keeping secrets, or hiding his emotions from his expression.
"No reason." Taemin says sheepishly
"You can't lie to me, I can read you like a book." Yeona replies
"Fine, I want you to meet a classmate of mine. He's in my singing class." Taemin says
"Oooo... do you like him?" she asks
"No! You know I'm already interested in..." Taemin starts
Yeona sighs, cutting Taemin off from his words, everyone at the college knows about Taemin and the boy he likes. It's so predictable, two pretty boys, fighting and teasing each other in public and then sneaking into each other's dorm rooms every night. It's like the storyline of a teen movie, or a BL KDrama, but that's Taemin for you.
"Kibum-oppa, I know, everyone knows, except for he himself apparently." she teases
"Shh... he doesn't ever have to know." Taemin pleads
"Taemin, there is no way that he doesn't know. Shit, I wouldn't be surprised if he felt the same way about you." Yeona insists
"Don't make me think about it! I'll be sick with anxiety!" Taemin replies, his voice cracking as it jumps an octave
Yeona bursts out in laughter, holding her stomach as she catches her breath. Taemin is pouting at her when she is eventually able to look at him again, wiping tears from her eyes.
"You're trying to get me off-topic. Anyway, my classmate doesn't like boys anyway. In fact, you'd be his ideal type." Taemin says
"Are you trying to set me up?" Yeona asks
"Is that a bad thing? You need something else in your life other than school and work." Taemin replies flatly
"I do have other things! I have you... and..." Yeona begins before trailing off
Yeona turns to face the full length mirror that Taemin has against the wall, her black and dyed-blonde hair is tied back in a ponytail, she is wearing tight black jeans and a tight white cropped t-shirt. Her thick-rimmed reading glasses sit on the bridge of her nose, and she thinks to herself that she doesn't believe she would be anyone's type. She's fit, she is a dancer so of course she is, but she doesn't understand what part of her could appeal to anyone. Words run through her mind of self-hatred and deprecation, but she tries to fight them down as she turns to face her friend.
