Yeona spends the next few hours cramming in as much information as she can, before giving up as a headache begins to settle in. Standing up from her desk, Yeona walks to her bathroom, takes some painkillers and has a shower before changing into an oversized tee and some shorts to wear to bed.
She makes herself some cup ramen, and eats it quickly, realising how hungry she is after a day packed full of studying, no food, just the latte she had in the afternoon, and with a stomach full of butterflies, she is famished. Once she has finished her meal, she throws the cup in the bin, and the chopsticks in the sink to wash another time, and she steps into bed, wrapping the covers around her.
She lay still for a minute, feeling the throbbing of her headache slowly begin to subside, she clears her mind of the running script of the content of her Sociology class, and counts her breathing to relax her further. Her relaxing moment does not last long, however, as her phone begins to buzz with a phone call, and a new but familiar name appears on the screen as the caller.
"Yeoboseyo" she says
"Yeona!" Jonghyun replies excitedly
"How was your practice?" Yeona asks
"It was good, but I'm glad I get to rest now, and talk to you." Jonghyun replies
Yeona feels those same butterflies again, this man is smooth, and she's falling for it.
"I'd love to hear you sing sometime." Yeona says
"Definitely, you should come see our performance at the end of semester. All of the singing students have to do a song." he says
"What song will you sing?" she asks
"It's a song I'm writing myself." he replies
"That's so cool!" Yeona says a little too excitedly
"I've only just started to write the lyrics, but the melody is done, so by performance time it will hopefully be ready." Jonghyun replies
Jonghyun stares at his phone, and then at the notepad next to him. He sees the scribbled out lyrics of the song he had been trying to write for weeks, and next to that is a whole page of lyrics he has composed tonight alone. He has never been inspired by someone like this before, but from his first glance at Yeona at the cafe, his mind has run wild with inspiration for lyrics for his song.
"I'm sure it'll be beautiful. I can't wait." Yeona says
"I hope you think so." Jonghyun says
———
Yeona is lost in the older man's voice, soothing, smooth and calm. She pictures his smiling face as they continue their conversation, flowing freely and easily as they slowly get to know one another.
"I'd love to come to your dance performance, if you'd like to have me there." Jonghyun says
"I would like that, and I am sure Taemin would enjoy having more people to watch him dance, too." Yeona replies
"He does love the attention." Jonghyun teases
"Yep, but nobody's attention as much as he enjoys Kibum's." Yeona jokes
Jonghyun cracks up in laughter, and Yeona's heart swells at the beautiful sound. His laugh is contagious, and Yeona finds herself laughing just as much as he is within a matter of seconds. The two of them struggle to regain composure, although eventually they begin to settle back down, each emitting a sigh as they catch their breath.
"They'd make a cute couple, if either of them would take the dive and make it official." Jonghyun says
"Taemin is way too shy to ask." Yeona replies
