不安定な手Mai nearly threw up in class from the nerves attacking her thoughts about the training camp that afternoon. Seeing her old friends was scary, but she was even more terrified of being with Tsukishima for four days straight. He would see her from when she woke up in the morning to when she was straight out of the shower, with nothing to hide her insecurities.
"Miss Matsuda, are you alright? You're pale," pointed out their teacher, pausing from pressing the chalk on the board for a moment, "You can go see the nurse if you need to."
"N-no, I'm fine, sir. Just tired," Mai lied straight through her teeth, feeling guilty about still hiding the fact that she was going from her two best friends. Over the past week, she had stopped herself just short of telling them.
It wasn't an ordeal to get worked up about, but she couldn't help it. She was as terrible at keeping secrets as she was great at volleyball. So, keeping one from her best friends was akin to getting away with homicide, at least in her eyes. Kuroo would've seen right through her, but then again, she never had to keep anything from him. It wasn't a big secret either, Mai just couldn't bring herself to tell them.
The teacher nodded and continued his fast-paced writing, still having concerns about his best student floating around in the back of his mind. He kept the lesson going, not wishing to embarrass the girl in case she really was just tired.
The last bell rang as soon as classes began, although that might have just been Mai's thoughts taking up space in her head. She stood up and started packing her things away, knocking her calculator off the wooden desk. Tsukishima stood up in front of her, towering over her within their proximity, held in his hand the aforementioned device.
"Here."
Mai snatched it from his thin hands and muttered a quick thank you. He raised an eyebrow above his thick glasses, wondering what happened to the collected and calm girl he became friends with. She hurried out of the classroom, leaving Tsukishima and Yamaguchi dumbfound.
"What's her problem?" whispered Yama to his taller counterpart, hoping that she might have told him why she was acting so weird. Even though they were all equally close, she seemed to speak more to Tsukishima, especially on their journey to and from school.
