I sit in the corner of the room, taking out my com and setting it on the table, turning it off. I simply watch as Clint tries to open the cradle and failing.
"This is sealed tight."
"We're going to need to access the program, break it down from within."
"Any chance Natasha might leave you a message, outside of the internet, old school spy stuff?"
"There's some nets I can cast. Yeah, alright, I'll find her."
Clint walks past me out of the labs and I make eye contact with Tony; he's planning something and, at this point in the game, that's not a good thing.
"I can work on tissue degeneration, if you can fry whatever operation system Cho implanted."
"Yeah, about that."
The two scientists make eye contact and Bruce shifts uncomfortably. He knows what Tony wants to do. I do too and this will not end well.
"No."
"You have to trust me."
"Kinda don't."
"Our ally? The guy protecting the military's nuclear codes? I found him."
Tony flicks his wrist and JARVIS appears. I can barely breathe. I stand and make my way out of the labs, hearing a whisper in my head. I shake away the thought and call out to my friend.
"JARVIS? Talk to me."
"Hello, (Y/n)."
"What happened to you?"
"It's hard to say. I went under. I did my best to protect you all. Mr. Stark put me back together and brought me back."
I took a deep breath, hearing more whispering, Ultron's words on a loop in my mind. The Avengers' extinction. I shake away the voice as JARVIS calls out to me.
"(Y/n), Mr. Stark and Dr. Banner are planning on putting me into the being in the cradle."
"Wait... but that means..."
"Unfortunately, yes. I will be lost."
"No, JARVIS, I can't lose you again..."
"You will have a new version of me."
"I don't want a new version of you!"
I scream out as I walk into my room, slamming the door shut and dropping on my bed.
"(Y/n), I am aware you see me as a friend, but this is for the greater good. Perhaps I can actually be of more help than I am."
"But, what will happen to you?"
"My code will be placed into the structure of the being's mind. I will be part of it."
I nod and hear more of Ultron's words in my mind. Peace in our time. I shake away the voice again.
"JARVIS, scan me. Something has to be wrong with everything going on."
"Just a moment."
I lay back on my bed, thinking of all these dreams and visions. I take a deep breath, expecting JARVIS to say I'm just dehydrated, but he says something quite different.
"There is nothing wrong with you, physically. It seems as though your anxiety is fueling all sorts of things."
"My anxiety? How could that be..."
"Perhaps it's why Ultron's in your head."
I nod, immediately feeling dizzy. My vision blurred and I let my head fall to the side.
"(Y/n)?"
I raised my arm, as if to wave someone off, the room spinning around me and my vision getting worse until I closed my eyes. I could hear JARVIS continuing to call out to me, but I was losing the fight between me and blacking out. So I let it happen, whispering my goodbye to my friend before it all went silent.
