The jet lands in the outskirts of the center and the team heads out. I insist on staying behind in order to protect Bruce. The team heads out and I think back to the file on me, wondering why the Avengers ever needed a file on me. I wonder if they have files on each other.
"You alright?"
I look up at Bruce and he staggers back a bit, I swallow and shut my eyes, taking a deep breath as I try to relax. I feel my eyes shift back. They must've gone black without me realizing.
"I'm fine. Just thinking."
"About? If you don't m-mind me asking..."
"Nothing in particular. Just everything that's going on."
He nods and starts to pace slowly around the jet. I look over at him. I wonder what it's like, living the way he does. I couldn't imagine. I have my mutations and my background, but nothing like his. I walk to the front of the jet and sit, hearing the clanging of suits, and the familiar whirr of Mjolnir in my mind. I wonder how the fight's going. Or maybe it isn't. Who knows? I hear footsteps approaching and I turn in my seat, looking over at Bruce. Poor guy, he somehow always manages to look like some scared meek animal, but I know what's inside that man.
"Do you think it's uh... going well?"
"Most likely, we're the Avengers, Bruce."
"I know... but we sometimes lose... clearly."
"We haven't lost and we won't."
He gives me a weak smile and walks to the comms, staring at the button hesitantly.
"Give it another minute."
He nods and I watch as he swallows, continuing to pace around the jet. I sigh, wanting to help, but never knowing how. Bruce and I are pretty good friends, but the majority of our relationship is business. We chat and laugh, but right after it's lab results and testing each other. We don't really talk about our problems, leaving the other on their own as we don't have a way to help the other. I frown and rest my head in my hand. Then, I hear Bruce click the comms.
"Guys... is this a code green?"
The response was mostly static, but there was a faint yes. I stood up and walked over as he opened the back of the jet.
"Bruce, let me go, stay here for a bit."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, that was an awful lot of static, man."
He swallowed and nodded. Then, I headed out to the ships. I was very hesitant, wondering if they actually needed Hulk or not, but I wanted to go in first. I made my way around fairly easily without any complications. Where I ended up was next to Clint, placing an electric arrow on a girl's forehead. Wanda no doubt.
"Done the whole mind control thing. Not a fan."
He went to take out the arrow, but Pietro hit him into the next room. He grabbed Wanda, removed the arrow, and left. I ran over to Clint.
"Who called for a Code Green?"
"What... no one, I don't think."
"Oh boy..."
I helped Clint up and quickly ran back to the jet. Something tells me, those two kids are going to go after Bruce for a not so pretty plan. I found my way back to the jet just as Wanda approached Bruce. I would've called out to him had Pietro not rammed into me. I used my telekinesis to keep me up in the air as I stared down at him.
"Move it."
"No thanks."
"Fair enough."
I put myself down and threw him however far he ended up going. I ran after the girl, but she had already corrupted Bruce. He quickly transformed into the Hulk and ran off.
